So I just beat jet lag in 469 attempts 1 hour and 6 minutes and seeing Tride beat it under half an hour is kinda painful

rating platformer levels in terms of difficulty is gonna be weird, in one case, they are very very precise, but on the other hand, they take way less attempts and overall time (usually). some demon list grinder people have said that the new platformer “i wanna be the guy” is top 50, but others have said its an insane demon. i think its subjective to previous platformer skill in other games.

Yea that's a good point, everyone has a different skill level from previous platformer games and since platformer mode just came out we don't have any reference so it's kinda akward to rate

Yeah this is true, and I feel like platformer extremes should definitely have a separate demon list. The play-styles of the two modes are so different that it would be really hard to accurately compare their difficulties

Is there going to be a seperate demon list for platformers? Like imagine if Slaughterhouse and Tidal Wave were overtaken in the top one spot by a platformer, that would just feel wrong, but if they had a list of their own there could two top 1s in the game - a classic one and a platformer

Reminds me of VVVVVV which also has level editor and a lot of crazy worlds made by other people to play. Like, recently I found one that literally transforms VVVVVV into a roguelike. Considering the big audience of hardcore players in GD and pretty nonconventional yet charming gameplay of GD, I feel like platformer levels will becone really crazy really quickly

I find it easier to practice levels by just beating them slowed down and just slowly speeding up each time and by the time it’s back up to 1x it’s really easy, I did it with Jet Lag and I got very consistent with it

I don’t think the cube in particular is very well designed for precision platforming. It takes too long to come to a complete stop, unlike in stuff like celeste and meat boy where you can confidently aim for very narrow ledges without worrying about slipping off

The platforming needs a mechanical overhaul IMO. Movement needs to be tightened as the block feels far too slippery. It has serious potential, though.

btw, platformer isnt as slippery as it seems when playing this level; in the editor, theres an option to make the selected block slippery on platformer, and i assume thats what the creator did with this level as the blocks are abnormally slippery
