Purchased a 438 UC last month and couldn’t be more pleased. I’ve owned some very nice J frames since the early 70’s, but Linsey’s hit it out of the park with this one. Planning to order a 432 as well.

@mac001texas I don't know about that. That thing is WAY too expensive for what it is. The trigger and internal upgrades alone make the Ultimate Carry really hard to beat, not to mention the great sights on it. Now, if they just made it with the 638 style concealed hammer, THEN it would be perfect!

I had a S&W in 32 H&R. Carried it for a while but never actually shot it. I know I know. The ammo was too expesive and hard to find. It's why I don't have it anymore. I loved the idea though. I still have the ammo that I had for tha gun!

Why does the cylinder scratch to silver before you even shoot it? Did they coat it in dirt instead of a durable finish?

@@MrLanternlandHave not used the Buffalo Bore, this is a super accurate wadcutter load. You should check out the website and see. I use 9mm, .40, 45 Colt and 45 ACP, .38 Special and. 38 Short Colt from them and it is very high quality.

The best ccw revolver has been discontinued for years. The hammer shrouded. Colt Agent made from 1972 until around 86. Colt should bring back the new Cobra in a plus p rated alloy frame with hammer shroud, but they won’t , so S&W wins by default. They should do a 638 with the same modifications minus the key lock

That is exactly what I am wanting too. I love the concealed hammer J frames and wish they still made the steel frame 649, but for a pocket gun, an ultimate carry built on the 638 would be perfection!

I have the 86~ Colt Agent, and man they really ruined these guns in the later years. Parkerized Aluminum frame (looks terrible) matte cylinder (looks terrible) absolutely the worst etching of the name on the barrel (looks like a child did it with a key) and no Colt logo anywhere but the terrible grips. The earlier year ones look much better though. Sucks Colt stuff is basically Taurus now - 50/50 chance the gun lasts forever, or gets stuck in warranty hell.

Hmm...I guess if you can't/won't carry an auto, and if the recoil of a .38 is too much for you, then sure, buy a .32 H&R (with ammo that costs $1 per round). The .32 H&R is not the mythical, miniature, magical manstopper that weekenders claim it to be. The only advantage the .32 H&R has over a modern .38 round is that there are 6 in this gun rather than 5. Otherwise, this "new" J frame is just thicker and that much less concealable than its ancestors. If you didn't carry a J frame before, this gun won't change that. You still won't shoot a DAO well. You'll still wish it held twice as many rounds. And, you'll still not practice, because "ammo is so expensive" and you "are really busy." If you already own a J-frame and like this gun, just buy a set of fat grips for your existing gun; get 500 rds of ammo and go practice with the gun you have!

This relies on the idea that 90% of people who buy a J-Frame don’t just shoot it once and leave it in a glove box. Snub nose shooters are by far the group I see don’t shoot their guns much to practice almost ever… which is worrying because the gun requires more practice than any otdr

Rim thickness COULD lead to poor accuracy, and not every 32 revolver has chambers that will hold a 32acp and extraction could be tricky as the reduced rim can fall under the star, BUT as far as safety goes, you are fine. It won't break the gun or anything like that.

327 Federal requires a steel frame that is more expensive and heavier or a Scandium Frame which is SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive. Their aluminum frame models are their best-selling revolvers by a wide margin. It's only natural that they would make these in their ever popular airweight line. I'm more interested in the 38 special versions personally, though a 357 mag version would be pretty cool!

Maybe their PC are good but their baseline models and "pro" models are just as crappy as everything else on the market right now. That's ok though because if it's messed up you can use the 8-10 week turn around to maybe get it fixed. I would polish up a 6 shot taurus before buying a SW j frame.

I think that is an amazing update to a solid revolver...For me, I will pass for two reasons, 1) Not interested in a 5 shot revolver (six is my minimum) and .32 H&R Mag. is functional for sure, but the low volume equating the high price cartridge. .38 is still too expensive imo...just not for me.

All this custom work and why not .327 Federal Magnum? .32 H&R magnum is low pressure, it's equivalent to a .38 +p in the .312 caliber. Ruger have offered a .327 Fed mag for a good long time already. While H&R mag might be adequate for a lot of things, it's not impressive unless you buy boutique brands like Buffalo Bore. The .327 Fed cartridge is plenty adequate in just about every brand it's offered in.

Mine is a 340PD .357 the ultimate carry gun. My grips are wood secret service... the gun fits in a hip pocket. and no... it is not fun to shoot. Which is totally unimportant.

"finally a descent gun you can this and that. what took so long?" really. many a classics great from day 1. haha 2:38. i always laugh shooters standing still shooting targets that don't move over and over again plus taking 3 - 5 seconds for each shot. good luck on mr bear or hoodie thug. they will thank you for not moving and taking "all day" to shoot.

A . 327 wd hv to be heavier. I don't know how much this . 32 mag weighs. Also . 327 in a light gun has a fierce recoil while . 32 long has almost none and . 32 mag just a little.
