This was very helpful in helping me decide if I wanted to take in a side job. My aunts ford fusion is a 2012, she was quoted a ridiculous amount from ford dealer for new transmission. Doesn't look there are any special tools required for removal or installation. My question would be if there would be any programming necessary after putting in a new trans. I did a trans swap in a 2011 chevy Cruze that needed the module programmed afterwards but working at a chevy dealer that was no problem. I dont ha e access to any ford specific scan tools or programming. Thanks

@Anadrol & Wheaties I actually never ended up putting a transmission in her Ford. I don't exactly remember but I think it was a fluke drivability issue she had but there were no transmission codes, she is still driving it and all is well. Once again the dealership was getting ready to bend her over the barrel

Hey My Friend, I appreciate your video. Regarding the removal of Torque Converter Bolts: I don't know about the 2.3L, but on my 1.6L Escape, the clearance through the starter (coupled with all the hoses & wiring around it) just makes removal through the starter hole way too prohibitive. Now, on the 1.6L, removing the engine oil pan allows direct access to the Torque Converter bolts. It adds about 15-20 mins (mainly to allow for oil to drain), but you actually save time (& state of mind) by going this route, if it's the same layout as the 1.6L. Also, yu can support the engine from above through the starter hole (on the 1.6L). You have to be careful, but the metal is hefty enough & when the oil pan is off from below, one can support from below to relieve the force on the engine lift above.

Replacing the transmission on my 08 as well. The Haynes repair manual I bought said to remove the O2 sensors, the EGR valve, and separate the exhaust. I don’t fully understand why these three are necessary, do you remember having to remove these?

It can if it’s a G5M. It needs about 2mm of play to clear the dram but I just removed the engine mount and it came right out
