Your bet sizing observations at 2/5 make sense. 3x is a pretty standard raise size in most Vegas 2/5 games, and betting small on the flop is generally the correct theoretical play on a lot of flops. Turns and rivers you start seeing a lot more overbets than at 1/3.

Nice video. The point you made about players being "there to play" at 2/5 is one of the best parts about the game. Even today, grown men at 1/2 whine when a player is opening "too much", or try to shut down a game when it's 6-handed and someone has to use the bathroom. It's also worth remembering that a $6+$2 rake at 1/2 is a 4bb rake cap, while it's ~1.5bb rake cap at 2/5.

ITS THE HALL OF FAME POKER ROOM @ THE HORSESHOE CASINO!
@bennybeeeee2 ай бұрын
Nothing is static. A soft room could be a lot harder the next year, a soft new room could be terrible down the road yet amazing on that one tuesday afternoon. I've heard people say that south Florida is amazing, and most of my experiences have been the exact opposite. I think a lot of it just comes down to what day / month / year / lineup / tabledraw you end up with. Also the alignment of the planets / whether or not mars is in retrograde and just flatout what time you sat down on a particular day and also who got up for a smoke thereby upsetting the trajectory of the cards and affecting the space-time continuum. I guess that's why they call it gambling
@VegasPokerNomad2 ай бұрын
Where did you get the retrograde line? I read that about 5 days ago in the comments of another poker video.

If everyone is concerned about the player pool we need to see the return of the 3/6, 4/8 limit games. No limit is a pretty deep pool to jump into for a first time visitor. The average tourist/ rookie is looking to have fun and get at the very least some time out the money they bring to the table. Someone looking to have a good time goes in and gets blown away two or three times isn't going to return.

Haven't read all the comments, so others may say the same........ I believe your comment #5 is why many folks have always made note you should play more 2-5.....that said, the games are "more serious" than your typical 1-2/1-3 and you lose a lot from lack of conversation. I too like a lively table (not crazy maniacs, but good conversations and a bit of loose play) to make my time more enjoyable. So it sounds like typical Vegas day there are from 3-8 games of 2-5 going across 4 rooms....the rest are 1-2/1-3 games. That seems like a small player pool. I'm assuming that big events increase these numbers as more money and purely rec players come into town (excluding WSOP influence). The variance of these could be good or bad short term. Hope you have enjoyed a couple days away from the tables....always good to do now and then. I like your week long challenges....longer and it probably really can drag you down.

When people have a hand, does their bet tend to not be easily divisable to pot? I feel like bluffs have to look a certain way, i.e.half pot, full pot, 1/3 etc.
@VegasPokerNomad2 ай бұрын
Some people think in terms of portion of the pot. Some don't. I saw several min-raise river bluffs last Saturday. The thought seemed to be "I want to bluff." But the thought never got to the "what sizing?" concept.

If you did more of your hours at night and on the weekends you probably would have no problems finding a 2/5 game at any of the casinos you went to but it seems you play a lot during the day and on the weekdays you're one of the few vloggers that seems to like less action. And if you're the most agressive player at the table it's gotta be a rough game.

I play a lot. It can't all be nights and weekends. Also, nights and weekends are busiest, but not necessarily best. All the weekend warriors show up on weekends. I much prefer Tuesday 11pm to Friday 11pm in Vegas.

I believe as inflation has continued unabated for the last 4 years the lowest no limit games should also change. A dollar is worth about 53 cents today compared to 2020… I think the lowest game should be 2-3, or possibly even 2-5. It’s like the reason I was always told 3/6 limit was the smallest limit game Vegas would spread, and in most rooms it was 4/8 limit, was because that game is barely beatable given the rake.

A $1 in 2020 is equivalent to about $1.21 in today's dollars, which means you need a $1.21 today to equal the value of a $1 4 years ago. Where did you come up with the 53% figure? Source?

@bennybeeeee2 ай бұрын
You sound experienced. Maybe you are unfamiliar with what a swing is. A swing is a large shift in the size of your bankroll. If it's positive, it's an upswing. Bankroll swings can be sizeable. Swings can occure even if you're playing solidly, if you lose several buy-ins in a row. Conversely, there may also be phases where you win a disproportionally large amount of money. 50k either way happens constantly at 5/10/20 uncapped. I don't know about where you play, but where I play the straddle is almost always on
@bennybeeeee2 ай бұрын
Maybe not constantly, maybe that is too strong. But it does happen. Pretty much everyone I talk to has reported a sizeable downswing or sun run
