@@michaeltuffek2601 It will work like a charm after a clean installation. The only issue I am experiencing with SN520 is a very minor battery drain.

@@LeoEverydayTech HI I am still watching the videos again and again as I wait for the adapter to come, could you tell how much of a battery drain are you facing? I've already got the WD SN520 and just waiting for the adapter. Does it overheat or anything? Does it also turns on fine with charger connected as some are saying that sabrent has issues with that?

@@thvardhan400 WD SN520 will never overheat, roughly an 8% battery drain in sleep mode during the night. It is flawless other than a minor battery drain.

Thanks buddy. As for the Samsung PM961, heat does not seem to be a problem after several hours of use. The backcover is warm but not hot. Some NMVEs tend to overheat, definately avoid those for sure. I will report back once I have new findings.

I used 2242 sabrent. I dont have issue with sleep/hibernate functions.but macbook fails to boot when you shutdown with your charger plugged in. It shows folder with question mark during boot up, as if it cant see the ssd. To workaround, i just needed to unplug the charging cable. the machine turns on fine then.

If it's a software problem, a clean installation of macOS should fix the issue.

I was going to say the same thing, looks like a bad idea installing a 2280 drive, mostly since it is adding extra heat to the heatsink, those things heat up on their own fine, with the M2 touching that, I can't imagine the temperatures.

Anybody wanting to do this - use Sabrent 2242, double sided is not a problem. Watch good tutorials about how to open the back cover on the Mac. I had a tough time putting it back on. Use Pentalobe P5 screwdriver for back cover screws and Torx T5 for the screws on the built in SSD. If you are recovering from a Time Machine back up (like I did) - let it back up overnight and BE PATIENT + don't move the Mac around too much. I almost corrupted my whole backup because of moving my Mac. I'm so happy I did this I was getting so tired of the "Disk space full" notifications.

@@LeoEverydayTech Do you think a transfer enclosure would work alright for that? I assume you could just buy a low-cost one, put the drive in it, connect it to USB, clone and then install it? The bonus is that you could possibly store the previous Apple drive in it and use that as an external. There are a couple of compatible options on Amazon in the $20 range.
