It's great to see something other than tortillas and peanut butter 😂 thanks for some alternative lunch ideas.

Creative ideas to enhance the backpacking experience. I want to try this lunch salad. Now I just need to get friends who want to stop for lunch prep.

I love the creativity of these meals while being pretty simple too. But it does require at least a few minutes to stop and enjoy somewhere!

I got one of the trail guides recently from one of my subscription boxes. I was pleasantly surprised by the menu and am going to share it with a local Scout to help improve their outdoor cooking game. Awesome video today, and I am excited to try this “salad.”

A nice knife and good stove, is absolutely essential. Probably first but of kit we buy. We know we need to eat, we need to cook? Stoves don;t need to cost the Earth. A good knife and chopping board aren’t too expensive either. Then we get into tents and sleeping bags! Can cost the Earth ha ha? What I take from this vid, I already knew. Seasonings, salt n’ pepper, other dried herbs, plus an onion, garlic, some dry cured bacon maybe? Makes all the difference to enjoying food, rather than just cramming in the sustenance. Eat fresh whenever possible, is my mantra. Thanks for the vid, I have enjoyed it.

"I don't like food that's too carefully arranged; it makes me think that the chef is spending too much time arranging and not enough time cooking. If I wanted a picture I'd buy a painting". This lunch is perfect for me. Happy hungry! Cheers, Domenico.

Great recipes, I'm checking all the mont y boca web now. I always liked real cook outdoors (I'm the guy of the Trangia). Some ingredients you use are not available here, but I guess I can adapt and I always can get some things online. I want to try different flavors, as you say, get excited about lunchtime. For me (from Spain) some of these recipes look really exotic and exciting. Thank you both!

@@BackpackingTV I could see a great series of different trail snacks, meals, etc. that you could do with one. We have a freeze dryer and love it. Retired at 40 has a good channel for this, but they don't do enough outdoors meals.

If you do a long multiple day hike and have a stop at a town. You can pick some fresh ingredients up. Instead of your standard tortilla wraps. That is what it’s for I assume.

Question: how does one keep their vegetables fresh during a two week trip?
@mahbuddykeith11242 жыл бұрын
A lot of veg is shelf-stable at room temperature. Of course, it’s dependent on the ingredient and the more you process it (cutting it, for example) the lower the “shelf life”. Experiment to see what you can get away with. It’s all part of the cooking process.

Three tablets of spirulina and chlorella for a meal saves volume/weight necessary vs vegetabkes and makes space available otherwise unachievable.
