We are lucky. Very lucky. My Moto Guzzi V9 has 5,000 miles and the service intervals are nowhere close to Ohlins. My Aprilia Tuono has Ohlins suspension and it is recommended to replace the oil every 8,000 miles...I think and ONLY with Öhlins OIL. Yes, it gets expensive if you want it done right. But then again.....if you're willing to pay $3,500 for Ohlins suspension......shouldn't you have it working as intended?

Guzzi reckon the front fork oil on a V7 II should last 40,000 km (25k miles), that is the service interval. No I don't believe that either. Oil can age irrespective of mileage. They feel 'crashy' now at 3yo. I shall know better when I get the bike back from having the fork oil changed. My other bike, same age/mileage, was vastly improved simply having the fork oil changed, proper damping restored; ~3+yo, ~5000+ miles.

Oil viscosity range increase via age/use is a function of type of use as well as temperatures the bike is used in with regard to the road surfaces traveled on.
