If interested in finding out more about the APIMAYE hives and/or if you are thinking about ordering some I would appreciate it if you would use the link in the description. It IS and affiliate link and I receive a small commission on the sale. Every little bit helps. I am having a lot of fun with these Apimaye hives! Though a vast majority of my hives are traditional wooden ones, I am grateful that I have the opportunity to have a few of these and look forward to seeing how they work out for years to come.

nice video Bruce, I'm getting me a seven frame for a queen rearing hive, hope it works out they look great.
@brucesbees2 жыл бұрын
I think it will and I think you could use it as a mating nucs at the same time because you can have the entrances facing opposite directions.

Hi Bruce. If the queen died on one side could you open the vents in the divider for a couple days to combine them? Bypass newspaper method?

Absolutely.

I’m officially switching my whole yard to apimaye. They said if you buy six or more the site automatically gives you a discount. That’s how many I need it will cost me approximately 2500 bucks but I’m doing it.

Where's the best place to order frames and foundation from
@brucesbees2 жыл бұрын
I have ordered triple waxed black frames for a Pierco for the past few year and k am trying some Premier Extra heavy wax foundation this year. I ordered a pallet of 1200 of them. The key is the wax. The heavier the better.
@wadebarnes67202 жыл бұрын
@@brucesbees that's a little bit more than I need I'm looking to get around about 200 . Foundation about the same besides the wax
@brucesbees2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think you can order any quantity you want from Premier. Or any of the companies for that matter. I cannot emphasize enough the difference the wax makes.

Back during the "stone age" of the early 70s and to 1986, before Varroa came calling, I bought and old Sears Crapsman table saw. I scrounged enough lumber and boards to eventually make 12 hives and tons of extra Langstroth style frames. Now, here comes these expensive Apimaye boxes, frames and other plastic gizmos to make everything attractive to bees. Well, I'm not married to a realtor or bank official to be able to afford all this nifty plastic crap, so I'll just keep scrounging lumber and wood to keep it out of the burn pile or landfill. I have fully matriculated to geezerhood, and can continue to build future hive and frame needs the good, old fashion way -- for no cost except gas to haul home in my trusty old truck. I do NOT need a new Ford Beast either.
@brucesbees2 жыл бұрын
Well that sounds like a plan to me. If you have seen my other videos you know that a vast majority of my hives are traditional wooden hives. But I really like these. “Crap” is not a word I would use. They are extremely well built with a lot of forethought put into them. And they will last for many years I imagine. The one I have had for almost 2 years still practically looks new. I respect and agree with your assessment that you need to just keep doing what you want to do. I get it. These are pricey. But I like trying different things and in my opinion these are pretty cool hives. But they are probably not for everyone. Thanks for checking in and contributing to the conversation. 🐝🙂

You can use your wood boxes without insulting a very well made product. Nobody is being rude to you, so why are you calling it crap?

Why no gloves when you are wearing a suit and hood?
@brucesbees2 жыл бұрын
Great question! I always wear a veil. And then I just had in my wind breaker from work. Otherwise would have had on short sleeves. I prefer not to wear gloves if I can help it. The dexterity is better and it’s more comfortable. But if they get feisty or if I know they are going to be feisty I will wear gloves. My preference is to work bees with just a veil and regular clothes but much of the time it does not work out that way.
