I finally got my nib 6940...The usps lost the box for 3 weeks but it eventually surfaced..I can honestly say the accuracy is awesome...I have a red dot with a 3x magnifier and I was able to shoot multiple groups sub moa... 3 shoots same hole at (approx 1/4 inch) @50 yards and another was 4 shots in a less than a half inch...mote like 1/3 inch group...one was black hills 77 and the other was winchester shelf grade...awesome gun...Thank you for recommending it..I only have 250 rds through it but it is already my best shooter.

I'm in a dilemma whether to purchase a 6940 monolithic M4 carbine or a 6920 plain M4 carbine from Colt. Price difference is $300, from $1099 to $1399. If it were you, is it worth going with 6940?

I would. I think the 6940 is the best AR Colt has ever made. On the other hand you're stuck with what you have with the 6940. With a 6920 you can build it however you choose.

Yes they are. I know where you can find them right now. Message me if you want another one I will tell you what site they are on. I dont want everyone knowing because Im ordering one friday and they better not sell out. You are correct in not seeing them for years I have not either but last couple weeks they started popping up again. I think they must be be getting rid of some uppers that were laying around. They ship with a mbus rear sight though. I really want the old sight like you have. Those are cool sights. The colts sent to the military had those sights for a long time.

I have a 6940 on the way as we speak. Exactly like the one you were holding down to the leo stamping. My dream gun since my 20's. Found one unfired if you can believe it. No box though. Should I safe queen her or put it to work? I cant decide. Mfg date says she's over 20yrs old now. What's the farthest shot you've made with your 6940?

That’s awesome. You’ll have to make the call on whether to use it or not, but I wouldn’t hesitate if it was my only rifle. I’ve never stretched it out past 100 yards before

@@Jason.123rson Because that is what everyone says when they are trying to sell a gun, and also I would never trust someone who buys a gun and says their never fired it. What is the point of buying the gun then? I have spent nearly $20,000 on guns and shot every single one of them no matter if they are collectibles or not.

@@jrowinski82 I was sceptical too, but when it arrived even my local armory said it appeared to have never been fired after they installed the Geissele match trigger. Of course you can always replace the worn parts for NOS , but everything was original on it. And that's why I believe its unfired since factory testing. I'm sure some law enforcement agencies had new guns still in stock when the Clinton ban lifted. I also have a vintage colt sp6920 and a colt 6943 upper on a bcm pistol lower. 5 binary triggers for sale and a Kalashnikov ks-12fs for sale on gunbroker.com right now. Bid on it its gonna go cheap

Funny. I didn’t see a Colt roll mark on either firearm. You can’t call it a Colt without the Pony.

The 6920 is a complete upper with a different lower. The 6940 is a complete Colt. If you look at the up close table view, you’ll see the disclaimer on the right side of the lower that says for militar/ law enforcement use only.

I’m not familiar with ones produced in the last year or two. The one’s I have are very reliable and on top of that, my 6940 is the most accurate AR i own. Comparing it to the Geissele is hard. The Geissele is a refined gun no doubt, but my Colts are just work horses. I relate the Colt AE’s to Glocks. They are tools that just work. The Geissele is more of an Agency arms clone of a Glock if that makes sense.

Great gun! With a magnified optic, I shot a sub MOA group with it once. I can’t remember what ammo I used but it wasn’t cheap ammo. With most bulk stuff you can definitely expect les than 2” and probably close to 1.5”. That’s been my experience anyway.

I know I got lucky at that price. 👍👍👍I found it online at a pawn shop. When I spoke to the guy he didn't recognize the model number "6940" ...He described the flip sight, quad rail and Even gave me the US pat # on the upper and sent additional pics showing colt factory grease. The guy called it a "m4 carbine" because of the lower stamp and stated he didn't know alot about the various colt models and I figured it WASN'T a good time to educate him. I made the purchase right then an there.😀😀😀 He said it was brand new, perfect condition with the factory box and offered a 3 day inspection. Every once in a while even a blind dog finds a bone...I cant wait..2 days 2 go
