I'm with my sweet pregnant sister! We are trying all the things to help get her body ready and cervix ripe and ready and get this body induced and baby out and into our arms!! Dates have a small amount of evidence that they can help ripen the cervix, less chance of a medical induction of labor and can help reduce postpartum bleeding - eat them dates! It isn't easy though to eat them raw, so we are here to show you two of my favorite ways to get your dates into your diet, it'll increase your fiber, folate and protein intake! WINNING!
Joy Balls (from the Conscious Cleanse Book):
2 Cups Medjool Dates (chopped and pitted)
1/4 Cup almond butter (or any nut butter)
- blend/chop/process them together to make a paste-like consistency. Then, roll them into little balls.
1/4 Cup unsweetened coconut
1/4 Cup hemp seeds
- put them in a bowl and roll the balls into it, put into a container and into the fridge. Grab for a fun snack!
THE BEST Date Smoothie:
1 cup almond milk
1 ripe banana
1 frozen banana (although you can do 2 frozen instead)
4-6 dates (pitted- soak them in warm water for a bit first)
2 Tbsp peanut butter (we would add more though)
2 Scoops Vital Proteins powder
Ice
Blend and Enjoy!! SO GOOD!
