Since this getting a lot of Attention from people outside of Michigan who have no idea where the name came from I'll like to point something it out The town was named after a man named Augustine Smith Gaylord in 1874 with the Town itself actually being known for it's German Alpine theme

I hated to push the "like" button, because this is so terrible. But I thank WOOD TV 8 for bringing us the story. Gaylord is a beloved part of northern Michigan for our family. I wish them a speedy recovery. For all the jokesters making fun of their city's name, Gaylord was named after an attorney Augustine Smith Gaylord.

Bless all of you... I am so sorry 😔. I live in Arkansas so we know your pain. We came from the west and had no clue. But 20years later my daughter works head corp at home Depot and they built a team that comes out after and brings supplies and support and helps with the clean up for the healing to begin. Your mayor seems very strong and positive. People feeding each other. It amazed me when we got hit the next thing you know trucks just started pulling up and bulldozers out of nowhere people setting up grills making coffee. In such a sad moment there were strong hands and hearts. More help is coming.

I live in Dayton Ohio. The storm here was moving due north toward Michigan and it was nasty here. I literally told my wife there be tornados with this storm. I’ve witnessed many storms but this one was different. The lightning was literally non stop. Was like driving through a war zone.
