So sad to witness such destruction. Something that someone from Québec cannot comprehend. The ONLY positive thing I saw in this video was seeing everybody getting together. One big family.

These storms just keep a coming. It's crazy how tornadoes will hit here, then there, then over there, missing others in between. Just never know when you're next. Good thoughts for those affected, especially those physically harmed and/or losing their properties.

I grew up in Southfield, not far from the station between 8 & 9 mile roads. The weather there is boring (happy about that). It seems the only places to get tornadoes are Ann Arbor & Port Huron. So I had to watch these videos. Los Angeles is a dead weather zone except for Santa Ana winds & fires. Luckily Orange County doesn’t see many fires. Thanks for posting Weather guys, it gave me a chance to see my home town area again. I really feel for those people who lost their homes.

The path of this tornado doesn't make any sense! It's almost as if it was hopping, skipping, and zig-zagging all over. It appears to be extremely narrow too.
@chrisl78392 жыл бұрын
The path of destruction was typical of a tornado of that size. Not narrow, but 200 yards wide per the National Weather Service.

It obviously had satellite vortices. You will see little mini tornadoes spinning around the main one. That’s how some of the houses skip the damage & others don’t.

True wisdom none of this weather makes sense not normal. Mega tornado Morton Texas 2 miles wide stayed on ground forever more formed you can see on line storm chasers unbelievable. It headed toward Lubbock Texas yet missed that area. Fronts come in from west coast or South to start days in advance not just pop up hear or there it's like something driving storms to form they use to seed clouds. Now with modern technology wonder what they can do with weather.

A tornado of this magnitude, happening at this latitude, is substantial let alone concerning. This (in my mind) increases the overall northern boundary of outbreak. I used to think we were relatively safe up here, but I'm beginning to think otherwise.

that one house off its foundation I noticed no grout fill or steel reinforcement in the block Foundation or anchor bolts to hold the house down that's shockingly poor construction. some remedies are surprisingly simple like using hurricane Clips to hold the roof Rafters to the walls that can save your roof they got a toughen up the building codes cuz some of those houses could have survived

I would have thought in a tornado area , Newer homes would have proper anchor bolts and hold downs (1:25) You can clearly see open blocks where the sill plates should be bolted to prevent the home from rotating off its poor unfilled foundation
@genxrants2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the local code. Since it's rare that any form of wind storm would hit that area, the laws are a little more laxed for wind, but much more restrictive for massive amounts of snow.

I'm going to sound mean in this remark.... I feel for those with the smaller homes and small businesses destroyed... who actually might not have insurance because stuff is paid off. However, those larger homes all (most likely) have mortgages on them and have insurance. It will cost millions of dollars to insurance companies to fix which just gets passed back to the consumer. Those living in those large homes will have the funds to continue to pay increased rates, but those smaller ones... well they might just get priced out.

I live here, the local news was warning of a # 2 threat of severe weather in this area and literally all of northern Mi 2 days prior to this tornado. The morning of, they reported that the severe weather would be in the afternoon. I did my errands that morning and was home when the storm hit. We are 8 miles from the town where it hit. This local station began breaking into normal programming 45 mins before the tornado warning of impending danger’s weather, showing radar so people could prepare. All who have cell phones in the area were given an emergency warning ⚠️ with instructions to go to the lowest level of our homes. Those driving in Gaylord would have had the same warning. I believe all these measures saved lives!
