This video outlines 2 people who went missing in the central core region of Edmonton's river valley within weeks of each other in 2011. Both people were later found deceased in the North Saskatchewan River in the same area within a week of each other. On May 5, Richard Curnow went missing while running in Edmonton's central river valley area. He was a member of the Canadian armed forces and he was running with a group of fellow soldiers in training for an upcoming extreme death race in Grande Cache, Alberta. Richard went missing during the the early portion of the run, and an intensive search turned up no clues. A few weeks earlier, an 80 year old woman named Jacqueline Gagnon went missing after last being seen on the pedestrian bridge near Louise McKinney park.
On May 15, the deceased body of Jacqueline Gagnon was found in the North Saskatchewan River near the town of Redwater. No details regarding the cause of her death were released.
On May 22, 17 days after he had gone missing, the deceased body of Richard Curnow was found in the North Saskatchewan River near the town of Redwater. His death was declared non-criminal and no further details were released.
The case of Richard Curnow got considerably more press than the case of Jacqueline Gagnon.
There has been no substantial information released yet that may offer clues to help explain these cases.
I have always found if interesting that these two people disappeared around the same time and were found around the same time in the same approximate area of the river.
If you got some value out of this one, please give it a like and consider subscribing to my channel - I upload at least one new video per week.
Please leave your comments or stories, thanks for watching!

My dad owned a Controlled demo company, when he demoed the original downtown bldgs, to build Canada Place and the LRT, he found bones of people sealed inside walls and basements, back then, the Edmonton City police, didn't care, when my dad informed them, the cops told him to send it all.

That's wild! Controlled demolitions are so cool to watch, I sometimes watch demo compilation videos on KZbin

Now I'm wondering who built the original buildings. Did the bodies belong to workers who were just seen as 'disposable' back then?

After being attacked while hitch hiking, I notified the RCMP. They just laughed & said "I deserved what ever happened because I was a stupid sqwa*". Later I found out that this is how they treated all indigenous women and that there were 4 other MMIW from that very area. It makes me wonder if that man was responsible and if the police had done thier jobs, would there have been a different outcome?

Hey thanks for watching and I appreciate when people take the time to comment - that sounds rough and I'm sorry you went through that. There are definitely good and bad cops out there. I hope you're doing well, all the best to you and your family! Cheers

Are you familiar with missing 411, david paulides has written a series od books on missing people, most are from national parks but he writes of others, these 2 cases you talk about meet some of the criteria of his cases

Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback! Yes I have - I have been following David Paulides and the Canam Missing Project since 2016, fascinating work. I have all of the books and I have read them multiple times, also a subscriber to his KZbin channel. I plan on doing a video discussing my thoughts on his work, it has really gotten me into missing persons cases. I did a video a couple weeks ago on the disappearance of Paul Schroder in 1972 at Alberta Beach - the story hits close to home and David Paulides actually covered that case in his Missing 411 Canada book.

I love Cochrane and the surrounding area, and yes I think I remember that case. Recently I have been getting back into the cases involving hunters - guys that are well armed and knowledgeable regarding the wilderness going missing under really odd circumstances

Hey thanks for watching and I appreciate when people take the time to comment - yeah I can definitely see him covering these stories down the road, that would be cool! What are your thoughts on the Canam Missing Project/Missing 411 books?

@@iblockpuncheswithmyface1490 Right on, Sylvan Lake is a great town. Cool, yeah they've done a lot of research into missing people. I have 10 of the 11 Missing 411 books - I'd really recommend the Missing 411 Canada book - tons of cases from our country plus a ton from Alberta. Cheers!
