Thanks Justin! The explosive arm strength is quite notable in just a month and a half of doing everything in this video and your other arm strength video, 2-3 times a week in an outdoor racket ball court. Each session is about 30-45mins followed by icing everything down. As a mid 30s year old, my arm has been shot for about 4-5 years from playing softball. I had bad tennis elbow. And my shoulder would feel dead after one or two strong throws. Finally, I did all physical therapy stuff for both the elbow and shoulder. But I still had no arm strength. My team would joke about my arm strength- “you only play left field because of your glove and speed.” I gave my self the excuse for years about the pain and just being old. I came across your videos and I decided, it’s either get better or move to 2nd base. I strongly encourage you to do building arm strength when coming back from injury series of videos. Some things that really helped me: 1 cross frictional rubs. 2. Extremely low weight as in a can of beans weights. (I’m now up to 2lbs. !!!!) 3. Getting back to the basics with proper mechanics (could you do a video on this with a softball for old guys like me!?) 4. Your arm strength videos. 5. Resting the arm. Thanks again. I really went from thinking my playing days were close to being over. To now, playing as good as my high school days and have many more years ahead of me.

Very good, young man! . Wish we had your kind of coaching when I pitched college ball back in the late 50's. Our baseball coach knew crap about baseball. True!!.. In the 50's we had between 12 to 18 games a season.

I think these two videos will really help you out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGS0dqmYgduIbbc kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4aZmn-Xe7VmoqM I can try to make a more specific video covering an example workout you can do, but it really depends on the individual. Every player needs to improve at different things and every player has a different skill level. I recommend finding your weaknesses (let's say you cast your hands when you're hitting) and then find a way to correct that (such as telling yourself to stay connected and watching my video on the topic).

Im a short stop and pitcher everyday I have my dad throw groundballs to me. I throw it back to him but I throw it back these ways. The first way you throw it and take two quick short hops than fire it or throw it with good accuracy and one other way is take two run up steps fire it or with good acurracy do it 1-2 hours a day and your arm will be stronger and gain more velocity, my arm got much stronger and I gained a lot of velocity. So try this to.

We have several kids that fall off to the side when they throw - how can we teach them to carry through towards the target with their throws?
@UltimateBaseballTraining8 жыл бұрын
+AJ Simon Which way are they falling off? Arm side or glove side?
@ajsimon95518 жыл бұрын
+BaseballSecrets glove side - we have a AAA 8U group of boys and I'd say this is one of the bigger flaws among the group. They all have pretty strong arms - but now it's about the smaller tweaks to make the mechanics match the talent ;) also dealing with some side arm non sense - which a whole other issue...
@UltimateBaseballTraining8 жыл бұрын
+AJ Simon I'll have to think of some specific drills you could do.. Something I do with young hitters who step in the bucket is I place an object where they tend to step that they kick over. That way it's instant feedback if they do it right or wrong. Maybe you can incorporate something similar. Maybe even draw a line in the dirt and have them square their shoulders, throw, then follow their throw all staying on the original side of the line
@ajsimon95518 жыл бұрын
+BaseballSecrets this is really the last step to completing the play for us. We do the two step up / or around to attack the baseball, then the step over or hop step (whichever kids prefer)... Now we need the momentum towards the target, now away. Tried the bucket and it's too hard to setup in the flow of making a play :(

These drills will make you lose velocity. There's no back leg drive or front leg extension. Balance points do nothing for pitchers, and these drills are very outdated.

Tucker Dickinson These are great drills as long as the pitcher leads with the front hip.....which he has emphasized over and over
@tuckerdickinson11107 жыл бұрын
AsWithinSoWithout It isn't all about front hip lead. Hip lead is good and all but it doesn't mean anything if you don't use your back leg. You should check out top velocity. You will learn a lot.
@tuckerdickinson11107 жыл бұрын
AsWithinSoWithout Olympic lifting is great for pitching, power cleans, squats, snatches, etc. they teach your to be explosive and fast. You can't be an elite pitcher if you don't lift.
@aswithinsowithout86387 жыл бұрын
Tucker Dickinson I completely agree with you and top velocity is an excellent channel, it is much more advanced and scientific than this. But it doesn't mean these drills don't help the beginners and people looking for quality throwing exercises. All I've seen from top velocity is analysis, talking, and power lifting stuff. Haven't seen any throwing drills being taught
