Thanks for your videos! Replaced sons 2013 C250 grill with the C63 AMG grill and also installed the LED grill emblem using your videos. Your content made it a breeze. Also installed the indoor puddle lights that project the Mercedes emblem on the ground if you open the two front doors. Those were crazy easy as well if anyone is wondering. Just pop them out and unplug. Plug in the new and pop em in and BAM. Again thanks for your very helpful videos.

Thanks for showing the correct way to wire the star! It should come on and off with the auto headlamp sensor as well as the headlamp switch. It should not run all the time. Kudos

It draws so little power and works well. Another way is using a fuse in the fuse box. I have a video on that. That might be easier for people then splicing into the headlight harness 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hey man great video as usual. I was thinking of hooking mine up to a pack of 4 AA batteries and a remote switch so I could just turn it off and on wirelessly. I was wondering how much power this thing draws. How long do you think it would last continuously on 4AA batteries? Also is there enough space to stick anything to the back of the star itself? That way I could just remove the star everytime I want to change batteries.

So, did all the steps in tapping into the gray/ white wire for my star. However, I noticed at night the footwell light are on. They turn off when the car is off but when the car in use and the automatic lights have turned on giving power to the star, I noticed the footwell lights are on. Hey, going to get the same style for my SL55. Won't I get a error code if I splice into my headlight power wire? I have HID and they only use 35 watts. From my experience my car throws an error code anytime I hook something up that is not factory. I upgraded to HID fogs but the ballast had a code cancel feature.

Glad you like them. I appreciate it. This is an old video from years ago. I cover my plates all the time but not for security reasons. I do it cause it gives my car a cleaner look in videos. I don’t know where people came up with the idea thinking covering it will prevent stuff but it really doesn’t do anything. Cause if I need to blur it in videos then I need to blur it everywhere I go. Hundred of people in my area already knows me and cars. I take my cars to tons of car meets and everyone takes pics all the time and probably repost them everywhere. If someone really wanted to harm someone, they will find out stuff through other means…not just from a license plate number.

yes you literally just wrap the bare wire (no rubber) around and tighten it and it should get electricity

I have a 2017 CLA250 4MATIC For anyone with the same year/model it's the solid yellow wire on the passengers side headlight than you are gonna want to T-Tap into and then I grounded it to one of the white screws going into the frame on the perimeter of the engine compartment. Comes on whenever the headlights are turned on.

Crap, I wish I waited for this video before installing the Star way back when. I already tapped the illuminated star into the DRL and always wondered how much it was going to affect the longevity of the stars life with it always being on. I personally cant even see it during the daytime, whatsoever. I'm too nervous I'd damage the DRL wiring by removing it at this point.

No. The led star uses almost next to not to power up. There’s other ways of wiring it but this was a quick easy way for me that worked for me. Never had a single issue.

A lot of grille have different size opening. Also, a lot of stars have different way to mount to a grille. Best way is to remove the star from your grille, measure it, see if it’s the snap on star or twist on star…and then find a lighted star that matches.

The star comes out by twisting counter clockwise and pulling it out and twisting clockwise to lock it into place. This is on a C-Class, CLA, W212.2 E-Class and the rest of the line up 2014 or newer, equipped with a large star grille

I would take the positive wire and negative wire from the star and put it on a 9V battery to see if the star will even light up.

I have a E350. My fuse box completely full compared to every video I've seen. I tapped into #35 which is for a hybrid (I assumed it would work) but it didn't. I just think thats easier than pulling out and t-tapping into the headlight. The headlight isn't as easily accessible. Any ideas?

When a fuse box is full, then you need to use a fuse tap to piggyback onto an existing fuse that gets power when the car is turned on.

I just went and got a battery to test the light also. The fuse does light up when the car is on also. #35 also uses a 5. So I put both into the tap and plugged it in

I just measured and it should be the gray/pink not the gray/white for the w205 lowbeams..It's different....Yea your best bet is to take off the connector, go to number 2 position turn on headlights and measure for your 12v.... on a side note make sure you're properly tapped, you may not be making a good connection...

Mercedes does not allow the illuminated star option with drivers assist because it obstructs the radar. You'll need to find a clever solution that allows the radar to work while illuminating the star.

I don’t think you can then unless you retrofit a lighted star into your oem star. Gonna required modification and it won’t be easy.
