Killerrrrrr tutorial. I didn't have proper electical equipment so I spliced in the positive and ground into the running light wiring at an offset (for safety of course) and wrapped each, tightly, with pvc thread wrap 😌.. It worked.. For now, and no error code! ✌ Thank you

No 1, Great Instructional Video. No 2, We stopped using those Splicers in the 90's in Britain as they were unreliable and weren't waterproof. I would have stripped the wire back on the Brown and Green and soldered directly on them, That way not only do you have a complete connection but can also tape and waterproof tape to seal them.🇬🇧👍

Hi Raymond, just wanted to give an update... I FINALLY got my illuminated star on my 2103 W204 C250! YEA!!! However, I had a friend works at a MB dealership and he hooked up my Star in a better and easier way which works better with all the automation of the lights on the car... which was, he ran the connection cable to the fuse box in the engine compartment and just plugged the cable wires under a specific fuse. So NO WIRE SPLICING WAS NEEDED! :D This would probably be better to show everyone instead. Much easier and quicker installation too! :D I'll take a picture and posted to show where my star is connected up, tomorrow.

When u don't have the fog lights on and turn your wheels to the right your right fog light will come on automatically. Then the star will turn on aswell. I recommend to wire in the star to the parking lights

Looks awesome. Shouldn't you tap into the lights in the eyebrow rather than the fog lights? This will have the star illuminate when the headlights turn on automatically for nighttime driving, rather than turning the light switch to on and pulling the knob to turn on the fogs.

The easiest place to wire the emblem to are the orange / yellow side marker lights. There's only two wires attached to the bulb a ground and a power. It's super easy and easily reversible.

Under no circumstances allow anything metallic touch the body work cover any zips on your clothing with a piece of electrical tape, remove any jewellery, do not store parts or tools on the floor, wear gloves if possible (nitrile preferably due to latex contaminates) and above all else never ever place anything on the bodywork that shouldnt be there. Thanks. I tried the add a circuit route. I prefer to do it that way. I couldn't get it to go off. I found the fuse for the turning signal. The light came on but wouldn't turn off. I didn't want to mess around with electrical anymore. I will try the wheel method. Thanks again.

Nice. Mine is a 2007 model of the same car. Interesting difference is that the Merc bonnet badge is flush flat on mine rather than raised. Not sure about the flashing on the exterior mirrors (embarrassing , but I'm going to have to go outside and check mine). Very nice and great value vehicle in any case.

I won't bother with such a big lit star logo...makes the vehicle too unnecessarily obvious & funny looking, like a 'clown's car ?! Simply can't bring myself to be 'impressed' with this questionable idea of a lighted star as if a non-lit star is not obvious enough ?! Instead i'll gladly prefer to stick to the classic time tested smaller metal star which stands upright ABOVE the front grill...although not so obvious compared to a big lit star but overall the traditional simple upright standing star concept characterises a Mercedes-Benz more distinctively & meaningfully while also serving a great practical function (as a front limit marker) & ornamental talking piece viewable even from the interior of the vehicle...2 fundamentally superior benefits which a big lit front facing mounted star simply does not offer !

I want to swap out the OEM grill to a single fin grill .. is the center star swap a simple one? Awesome tutorial videos! Thanks for the detailed instructions. Now, besides installing a new grill and star, how are you proposing to fix the bumper scratches clearly visible at 14:00. My C300 has similar scratches and even a small broken bumper fiberglass from hitting parking bumper curbs. Would you completely remove the bumper in order to fix those scratches? Some people have managed to get rid of those scratches by using a product called plastic x. It's a compound agent that removes swirls and scratches. I had no luck and ended up removing the bumper and having the whole thing repainted. I have a video that shows you how to remove the entire bumper.

Hi there, I wanted to point out that instead of wiring the logo to the side markers or your fog lights why don't you wire them to your headlights so that when the lights come on at night it will come on as well, that's what I did to mine

Hi Raymond, I tried installing the star light by splicing into the fog light power circuit. But the star led was very dim. I figured it is because the voltage coming to the fog light is only 0.6 V in my case. I wanted to use the solution provided by Bernie below. In that case where can I connect the black wire? Can I just connect it to a bolt in the car to ground it? Also the fuse bernie connects to is the instrument cluster fuse in my car. I hope taking the fuse out to tap in won't require any code to reset later.

Hi Raymond, So are you ever going to modify and update this video to reflect the correct way of wiring the illuminated star? As I showed you, and to all who will read this, you can just wire the star to the engine bay fuse box by plugging the red wire to fuse port #5 or the fuse port for the instrument cluster and change the fuse from the factory 7.5A fuse to a 10A fuse to accommodate the extra amperage from the star. Also to get the wire into the fuse box, just drill a small hole on the side of the fuse box, buy at your local hardware store a rubber grommet for sealing (or use silicone). And then just mount the black wire (ground) anywhere you have a ground on your car.. But honestly Raymomd, I think you should update this video to reflect the correct way (or factory/dealership way) so that others can install their stars easier.

+Bernie Cruz in regards to updating this video I unfortunately will not be updating it for multiple reasons. First it's perfectly fine Installed into the fog lights, the voltage pull is close to nothing. I do agree that the fuse box would be a great location but I would say leave the factory fuse in. The 7.5A fuse is the biggest surge that component can take safely. A 10amp surge will fry that component. You could just add a fuse with a 3Amp fuse up top. Second reason is my star is no longer wired like that, it actually hooked up to my Morimoto XBT controller which takes power Straight from the battery. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIDCo2Zmj5mZhdE I do have another star in fabrication that may not require the XBT controller but that's a long way from completion. I do like the sound of the rear light up star and ill try and think of something, could be a fun project 😁👍

I have a 2008 MB C300 Sport (W204) and I can confirm that this is the proper way to do it. I bought a 10A fuse tap, removed the existing 7.5A fuse from port #5 and inserted it in the fuse tap (bottom position), inserted a new 5A fuse in the fuse tap (top position) and then inserted the fuse tap in port #5. I then connected the positive (red) wire of the fuse tap to the positive (red) wire of the illuminated star and mounted the ground (black) wire on the frame (there’s a convenient spot with a bunch of brown wires right next to the fuse box). I didn’t drill a hole in the fuse box though, but instead cut a small slit in the rubber piece on the left side of the fuse box below the one where the existing wires come out (just big enough for the red wire to fit). Everything works perfectly and it’s a much cleaner install than tapping wires. Thanks @berniecruz2378 for pointing me in the right direction (after having wasted hours and hours trying and failing to tap the right wires)!

Raymond I watched this then upgraded my grill on my c250 to the diamond style 1 and fitted the led star tapped into my fogs, works well, I now have a set of led strip drl that are very similar to the facelift w204 oem ones, have you ever fitted them? Can't find much guidance on line but think I may have to start cutting out the bracket which held my original fog lights, any help would be much appreciated

Hi Raymond, I tried to install the star LED by splicing into the fog light circuit. But the LED was too dim most likely because the fog light circuit only had 0.6 Volts going to it. I want to try the method suggested by Bernie. Where would the best place be to connect the negative (black conductor) of the LED? Should I just find a bolt and ground the conductor or is there a good ground near the fuse box? Also the fuse Bernie connects to is the instrument cluster in my case. I hope nothing will require reset when I remove the fuse to tap into the circuit.

+Varun Chauhan I don't know about rest you would have to ask Bernie. Mine was bright (I have redone my star and will be showing the new one this Saturday) and so are several others on Instagram that have installed them. You could have a bad egg on your hands. As for ground points there are several near the wheel well and bumper frame. Anywhere with metal to metal would work.

Why not just use a fuse tap in the fuse panel to the ignition fuse? Nice and clean and no cutting g or splicing wires.

They can be LED if you have a canbus decoder. I plan on making a video for this and explaining it better.

Fog lamps are for fog (rare) and they turn off when your hi-beams are on. Does your star stay lit when your hi-beams are on?
