I gotta say i really love and appreciate how kev fits all the carnage into a single video, not making us wait weeks for a second part like some other youtubers. and secondly, i am mindblown by how much power those motors have. their ability to rip through those wheels at 170mph is crazy

Your videos are fantastic, and I'm thrilled to see the level of success you've achieved. However, I'd like to offer some constructive suggestions for improvement: 1. Consider adding a front spoiler to your car. Downforce plays a crucial role in optimizing performance, and having a front spoiler can significantly enhance stability and control. 2. Have you thought about positioning the driver's stand closer to the edge of the track? By doing so, you'll be able to drive closer to the center of the track, providing better perspectives and a more engaging experience for your viewers. 3. Similarly, try relocating the driver's stand more towards the middle of the track's length. This adjustment will allow you to capture footage of the car as it approaches and moves away from you at equal distances, creating a more balanced and visually pleasing video. 4. For added security, explore using a bearing lock washer. Attach it on the outside of the tire, between the wheel nut and the tire, with the pieces bent towards the tire. This modification should enhance the grip and potentially prevent the tire from coming undone during your drives. Keep up the excellent work, and I'm looking forward to witnessing your continuous growth and success!

Fast boats flip over backwards when the air gets under them. The underside of these cars is like a sheet of plywood. Need to make these car bodies more like airplanes so the air doesn't lift them up. Mount the batteries on their edges or over the axles or put them in the front or back. Cut out or remove all that flat lifting surface from under the car or vent it so there is no lifting area. That body shell might be acting like a parachute if any air is getting inside the car. After the run; it might be an oven in there. Open up the back of the shell?

Kevvy have you ever considered buying your own CNC mill to make custom aluminium parts and/or a CNC router to custom cut carbon fibre? It would be a big learning curve of course but I could see someone like you really benefiting from doing this. OTOH you may just really prefer driving and working on cars rather than working on CAD programs which is cool too of course. Edit: Can't wait to see the speed sausage btw.

Here in America, the biggest 240 V motors that I recognize is the siren motors on the American sirens because they are giant and spitting a heavy chunk of metal, which is the rotor, requires a really strong, but really big motor and you probably seen videos of siren motors and then they’re just massive

Kevin I know how to help you beat the speed record. In the electric off road arena we call it a electric motor driven 2 speed transmission - Run two motors and run one motor on a very low gear to get it up to speed and then switch that motor off and turn on the other motor with a very very tall gear on it. Obviously couldn’t run them at the same time but running one at a time gearing it up should help it get up to speed without it flying apart. You could have a servo just hit a transfer switch and have it a three pole switch so that when the switch moves it HAS to shut the motor off before putting power to the other one. This way you can save weight running one battery and one speed controller - because all the two motors is doing with the same gear is getting power to really tall gears

I work with carbon fiber to the point where you can smell it. Good recommendation I have is have a vacuum with a HEPA filter (Bosch makes a good one) but shut off auto filter clean so you don’t puncture the filter bag. Have the vacuum right next to where you’re grinding. As close as you can. Keeps 99% of it from getting in to your skin and your lungs. If it does get in to your skin or lungs, it’ll dissolve within 4-6 hours

I feel like you guys should be running parachutes or something like an airbrake to really add stability during braking, a parachute may even keep the car stable with the loss of its front tires or even a whole wheel. Every crash I see is either a backflip, or a loss of steering/not having enough steering to overcome wind etc, leading to an off track that kills the car, seeing all this, if I was to build one, I'd make a parachute system, and maybe even add a rudder to those big fins so that I know no matter what, I'll have some form of steering.

What if you take inspiration from the McMurtry Spéirling like having a "shark fin" on the top of the car, or even making cutouts for the front wheels to release air pressure and making some aerodynamic cutouts for the sake of routing the air around and above the car to keep it on track.

Silly idea maybe but, what about maybe mostly forgetting about steering with the wheels and making Magnesium, Aluminium or even steel wheels? All narrow, front with a few tiny grooves machined around to help steer a little, rear with something like knurling to hopefully give them enough traction and fitting servos to fins to do most of the steering once at speed maybe? I'm thinking more of a vertical fin at the front but, for reasons I don't fully understand, aircraft almost all have the rudder behind so, maybe a bit of a tail with one there??? Something more to 'influence' it rather than force it around possibly.

Please swap one of those 12v Dewalt impact drivers for a Dewalt Xtreme DCF601 screwdriver and give it a try. Same batteries, but it’s a screwdriver with a clutch. It has a 1/4 quick release just like the impacts. For disassembly doesn’t matter as much. For assembly you can set the clutch to tighten them all to the torque you need. IMO one of the best assembly tools for larger RC’s or just stuff around the house in general.

My guess is that the foams are way past their limit on these cars as the centrifugal forces on these tiny wheels must be enormous. So either use larger wheels or different wheel/tire technologies like metal wheels and belted rubber tires. A wild suggestion: why not using timing belts? They come with nylon inside and won't stretch and the outer material can be rubber afaik. E.g.: a 40mm wide 480mm belt gives a tire diameter of ~15cm. The wheel would be essentially one large pulley and you could glue the belt to it. They might be too slippery though...
