I was real close friends with a charter captain in north east Florida, Amelia Island. I love inner coastal fishing, as well as fishing the deeper waters in the ocean. I grew up 90 minutes from the northwestern coast of Oregon. Anyway, Captain Jim wouldn’t let a sail cat on his boat. One stuck him in the foot and he didn’t walk for a week. This from a man that took a treble hook to the cheek past the barb and used needle nose pliers popped the hook in two and the barb end popped out. We were both amazed at only a short term piercing happened. The next day he was barely tender at the injury point

Just a curious question! Have you ever tried beef liver for catfish? It has always worked for me and it stays on the hook better than chicken liver.

I used to put in my boat and big old giant garbage bags. Whenever I forget my rain jacket or anything like that at home Lisa had the garbage bags in the boat cut three holes in it one for your neck 24 your arms. The bags that go down to your knees.

Btw, full disclosure, the treble hook was mine. I made a mistake on a paper mouth spec and it flew out its mouth and slapped him in the cheek. I felt like a real idiot after fishing specs for a year and knowing better
