Jug fishing for catfish on a small river in during heat of Summer. We catch lots of keeper sized catfish and hook the biggest thing we've ever hooked.

There are two things I greatly appreciate about this video. The first is that you are with your son and you two are fishing. There is a high likelihood he will always remember the day that big one go away. He may just share that story with his son. And his grandson. At 66 years old, I can tell you for a fact that getting older happens in a blur. Take advantage of every moment, like this river adventure. The second thing is the lesson you are teaching about giving away fish and making others happy. You son is extremely fortunate to have a dad who took him to the river who and is instilling an extremely important value. Keep doing what you are doing, my friend. And don't blink. He will be graduating from HS before you know it.

Fishing with my stepson in 2003 when I catch about a four pound rainbow in Montana. Young fell asked if he could fight the trout , held on to the fly rod for a bit then the leader parted . Many years later I asked if he remembered that big fish . Nope 😢😢

You need a boat landing hook, we use them when we get to the loading ramp, it has a plastic hook on the end so we can pull the boat to the ramp. It makes life so much easier when coming into the dock, better then reaching over the side of the boat. Or you can take a long solid pole and hammer a nail onto it and bend the nail over into a J. Need to get you a 5-6 foot stick and put a hook in the end to make a gaff to hook the line on your noodle, that way you dont have to run right up on them and they cant go under again. I used a paint extension stick drilled a hole in the end and drove a cut off long shank lock cut off I found in the hole, made the hole small enough to hold the shank but big enough not to split the wooden extension. Sure makes it easier catching them noodles when a fish is on.

Boy if you weren't excited when you watched this young man's excitement, your wood must be wet!

Lol, I heard that! He was ready to go get that jug and apparently I wasn't moving fast enough.

This makes me smile. My son and I were out doing the same thing yesterday! And, my son sounds just like yours...excited! We have a small jonboat that gets us around, and we've been crabbing and fishing all summer long. Thanks for sharing. Keep those lines tight, gentlemen! 🙂

That's awesome! I bought that jon boat for $300 off of Craigslist a few years ago and there is no telling how many fish we've caught out of that thing. The kids love it just as much as a big bass boat. Thank you for commenting.
