Could you pls tell me why in 0:45 there is the phrase "de shu" when there is already the word "ben" above
@MaxSilkSydney
@MaxSilkSydney 5 жыл бұрын
@@gracynguyen6592 de is used as a way to denote that the book is about cars. In this context, it says that book about cars, ben being the measure word, de used when adjectives are placed before the noun it wants to describe. Another example can be, that beautiful girl, Na Ge (measure word) Piao Liang (description) De (used after describing words) Gu Niang (subject/noun).

Short story here: I've been learning to speak Mandarin and read hanzi for the past 12 months VERY CASUALLY (5-20 minutes per day). I'm happy to say I can guess all of the dialogues in the first 15 minutes correctly before any text appears (I'm still watching this video now) :) I don't understand everything, but I can figure out what they're talking about from key words (names of foods plus 'bu - no', 'hao de - ok', etc) or time of the day 'dian' plus the number, 'si' etc and working out whether each time on the screen is the one they choose. A few other words that I understand add into the mix of each conversation and give me a pretty good idea of where the conversation is going. It's great to see DuoLingo, TinyCards, Pocasts and listening to Mandarin music is actually paying off. I'm about to move to Italki to take actual lessons to learn Mandarin slang words and words/phrases that makes me sound more natural. If you're thinking about learning Mandarin or any language, just do it, it's so rewarding and you can connect and converse with people you never thought possible.
@maitlandbezzina2842
@maitlandbezzina2842 4 жыл бұрын
I would like to add that with all the pinyin suggestions, I personally disagree. You need to learn to read Chinese characters if you want to get around comfortably if you go and visit. This of course is personal preference because I'd rather be independent, but honestly, learn the 3 step process: Chinese character, pinyin then the English translation, eventually you can just look at a character and say the pinyin without thinking, and also know it's meaning in your native language. Mandarin is considered hard because of the added steps to read, plus the tones. If you really want to learn the language and culture, this is essential IMO.

Hello. thank you for the great and awesome work. I love your videos. As a learner of mandarin if you are open to positive suggestion. you need to put pinyin(more important) for learners in conversation Chinese characters may not be as useful than seeing pinyin to understand the pronunciation and tones. If possible add pinin to the conversation so students can see and understand the words better. Thank you. I am a teacher and speak 5 languages. mandarin is number 6.
