I once took a class where the entire grade depended on ten papers, one per week, at 100 words each. We found out a couple of weeks into the term that some people were submitting papers 300 words long or more. Those of us actually following the directions complained that it is much harder to condense the information to 100 words than to do it in 300 words. The professor was amazed, as if this had never occurred to him at all. I fear he's gone now since I'm an old man and he wasn't young at the time. Wherever you are, Dr. Keyt, I hope you are well.

I'd expect those boots to hold up a decade, at $300.

Honestly, I don't think the story is real. A gay guy with a salt-of-the-earth farmer showing up to school covered in filth to defend his son in a rural community going out to get fashionable women's work boots that cost hundreds of dollars that their lesbian sister later uses? Seems very Thathappened. Plus, they said that everyone at the school wore cowboy boots. This is armchair psychology here, but it's weird that in their story it was their queer family against the entire school, including the teachers and principal, with them having no friends or anyone outside of their family supporting them. Like, that just feels really fake.

I like it when you're being critical it gives me a different perspective and makes me look at it from a different angle. Sometimes I'm on the OP side and then you have commentary that could be considered critical but I can sit both ways. Certainly not overly critical, you stated your opinion they stated their own

In the mid 2010’s my son was in high school and he had asked my to do liberty spikes for him. It took us over an hour to get then standing 6-8” then he did his eyeliner put his chains on and his catholic school uniform. Well 9:15am I got a call from the school asking if I saw my son before school. I proudly said yes it took over an hour she said oh. At school my son was being told the school codes say no hair products no make up my son said that’s sexist. If women can wear makeup and use hairspray or mousse wear long earrings so can he. The school backed off.

1:26:08 Ha! I took my husband's urn to the cellphone conpany to transfer the account to my name. And yes, I pulled the "the account holder is here" and placed his urn on the counter. In my defense, I was coming back from the cemetery, ten days into widowhood, and the office was halfway to my home. Dark humour has been keeping me sane.

In the US here. Birthday month stuff is usually a coupon or promotion that’s good to use once anytime during the month.

Same in my country (Part of EU not France) We get a birthday month where we get a cupon which expires after a month.

Regarding "The Unpromotables": I worked a state government job, and in addition to other criteria, we HAD to hire anyone with military experience, if all other qualifications were equal. That was never a problem, since in the few cases we had ex-military applicants, they all were by far the best, most experienced candidates.

No way is anyone giving OP’s “too much” crap for the crap they pull and try to get people to agree with. I’m so sick of “you’re victim blaming” especially when I’m not even talking to these people directly: we’re discussing others and so being critical of them is allowed.

Bike on Bus Story: I can believe it. OP probably came across as P.O.'d, and based on how the upper deck acted, the bus driver probably pushed a lot of buttons. So he probably realized he was close to getting clocked

When employed by British Rail as a train driver, as opposed to going on strike, it proved to be far more effective to have a (malicious compliance), "Work to Rule", where we followed the Rule Book exactly. The upshot, one morning, having gone to prepare a train for service and ended up cancelling it, as there were no plasters in any of the three on board first aid boxes. That was in the 1990s. I am retired now and BR doesn't exist. So safe to use.

44:35 reclaiming property is a battle but if you have receipt and proof-of-purchase, any judge would've entertain a corporation wanting to drag on the court, in an attempt to bleed op out of money

Disagree with Rob about the kiddo being an AH for waking up the baby bro with flute playing. That. Is. Epic. Payback is best when it’s nasty and all kinds of unexpected things happen to make payback more unbearable. The baby was fine. The parents are fine. OP is fine. Therefore what they did was 100% within the rules of the game and they mastered their idiot parents to an annoying degree. That OP is freaking heroic.

I had that at my workplace too but OP kind of dragged it out unnecessarily. We just celebrated birthdays for everyone in that month
