Now that Justin is talking about FGames not being legacy, I've come to realize that "Legacy" is more of a 3D fighters thing. If you compare Tekken8s Heat and SF6s DR, you can pretty much win without using Heat once, but in SF6, DR is a core mechanic. You can win without Reversal Edge in SoulCal6 but Vtrigger is a core mechanic in SF5.

I've always liked MK more than SF and even played MK11 for it's whole ass life cycle but SF6 is a better game than MK1 on a fundamental and technical, it's pretty undeniable to me. I still like the world of MK more but the game is pretty mid and SF6 is a classic.

I want parry back like it was in 3rd Strike. I don't give a F about Daigo and other Japanese players opinions about it, that's how parry should be in the game. The way it is now isn't very satisfying. If you hit it and don't nail the parry it becomes an awkward situation. It acts as a shield against any attack unless you throw him. I don't like that and I think it should be changed

This game has that smash effect. These mechanics have got to be the best street fighter has had. You can play two T three rounds completely different with the things you can do with the DG. To winning from a perfectly timed parry to a clutch impact drive or you just took offense and tired ya opponent. I’ve been playing street fighter since two and this game feels like every street fighter game into one. Plus it’s still street fighter so you can still win with the bare minimum and stick with footsies and fundemtal. Literally the street fighter for everyone so I don’t understand the hate. Oh and the game is gorgeous.

Personally i think Capcom was in the right to not throw a balance patch out before letting the game settle. Way i see it MK1 kneecapped itself quick with its balance patch especially since its an assist fighter. Cryax boosted a lot of low tier characters but then now he got nerfed. Lets do more buffs less nerfs.

I just bought this game 2 days ago. I havn't played a single match. I'm still trying to convert classic controls for 80's arcade SF2 competitive days to my keyboard. This is going to take me time to get back into. The nuance is so granular, I can't even compare to the 80's. I'm actually scared. I just want to play. SF6 has that feel from those days in the arcade, I'm still working on the controls before I dive in for real. I'm currently looking at AWSD, CTRL, SpaceBar on the left and 456123 on the right, but I haven't nailed down the mechanic on classic yet. I'd appreciate some advice. I still have an open keypad Enter key, 0 and period key to consider on my right. I for real, literally, have not played in 25 years.

Depends on the kind of characters you play! Down-up charge motions, for example, are tricky with a WASD layout, so some players map “up” to the spacebar (this takes some getting used to; look up “hit box layout” for reference). What you choose to do with left shift/ctrl and all the open numpad keys is up to you, but you’re definitely gonna want macros for LP+LK, MP+MK, and HP+HK. You could, for example, map MP+MK to left shift, LP+LK to numpad 0 (or even right arrow key), and HP+HK to numpad enter. If that cramps your hand, you can also try mapping punches to 789 and kicks to 456. This might make it easier to reach your macro keys. Hope that helps!! If not, you can always look up “sf6 classic keyboard layout” for more ideas.

@@bitmau5 treat online/casual matches as practice. It's where you learn and try things out. They're not really "true" competition. You don't want to be in tournament/competitor mode all the time or you'll be miserable. Save that for tournaments - that's where you put everything you've learnt into action. It's like a musician or athlete: they spend most of their time practicing. The real performance is a very small part of it. Everything else is practice: try things out, learn some new things, analyze your replays, watch some pros, push some buttons and have fun :)

One of my biggest pet peeves of the fgc is the idea that you can’t judge dlc characters based off of limited information. If you played fighting games long enough you can very easily gauge the tools of the new character to what’s already in the game and determine where they may fall on the tier list. Rashiid for example was brought up in the video and indeed turned out to be broken before they nerfed the level 2. Let’s not fake and normalize taking the eye test at face value🤷🏾‍♂️💯

The level 2 thing was a one day bug though. Even after Rashid came out we were still figuring out tier lists I don’t even think people were putting Deejay in top 5 yet.

Nah some fighting games are complex enough that it's hard to judge. Especially when we don't know what the skill ceiling and floor will be. Like how easy it is to perfect parry moves; check bigbird getting Marisa's superman punch perfect parried constantly in Japan while it rarely happens else where. Hell looking at Capcom cup qualified, you can see JP actually isn't super dominant with 4 other characters having more placements. Which is surprising given how strong people said he was early on and even looking at his moves on paper. I don't think it unwarranted to be cautious about judging any character too early

My issue with sf6 is my character crisis I don't like any of the characters in this game I like ken but not enough to main him same with Kimberly. Game looks great single player is ground breaking for a fighting game. I have characters I like but none of the characters I love are anywhere to be seen. Even in season 1

Exceptions don't make the norm. Just because one Zangief, Ryu and Lily won a tournament, it doesn't mean that the game is balanced because of it. The game NEEDS balancing like no tomorrow as proven by all tournament entries & results stats around the world.

I think the game is very well balanced especially for the first build. Drive as a core system is so mechanically rich that it allows characters who aren’t tuned to the level of the top tiers the ability to compete and win. I’m excited for the lower tier characters to receive big gameplay changing buffs and for top tiers with established game plans to receive a few small nerfs or gameplay shifts. 😁
