Thanks for the video. Very useful info. I have a Hijet and I think the simple 2" body lift is nothing more than longer shackles for the rear of the leaf springs and a round spacer between the top of the front struts and the cab body under the seats. The front spacers should have a slight tilt to the end caps to preserve the front wheel alignment, more or less. I plan on doing a coil over lift so I not only gain some body ground clearance and wheel clearance, but also have a little more suspension travel.

Good morning, I ordered and purchased a Subaru Sambor a week ago from Japan. It arrives in August. I am so glad I found your channel, just subscribed etc. Awesome.

Hey thanks and congrats! Lots of info on my channel for sure. If you are on Facebook, join the group Sambar Squad, there is a ton of helpful stuff and people on there too.

You're welcome. It isn't too bad. Biggest problem could be seized bolts.

23x8x12. They do rub over bumps when turning. I plan to shave cab slightly to deal with it.

Do you remember thread pitch of the body mount bolts? I need to get longer bolts for my body lift. I know it’s M10 but I didn’t know if M10-1.25 or M10-1.5
@turnbullgarage88 Жыл бұрын
@@KenMFNCason no, but pretty easy to just remove one and measure it.

Do you remember where you can buy that metal plate to fill in the gap in the rear?
@turnbullgarage88 Жыл бұрын
There is a guy on a Japanese mini truck forum that had something for that gap.

Can the Subarus be lifted by the suspension also?
@turnbullgarage88 Жыл бұрын
Yes, but you can’t go too much or the rear axles will pop apart. I’ve heard 2” can be an issue.
@blackmagiic00 Жыл бұрын
Ok cool. I’m definitely leaning towards the Subaru just because of cab space. I sat in one and didn’t feel tight to me being 6’3. Definitely would love to do the bumper you did. Do you have a any close up pics of how you mounted?
@mab012472 ай бұрын
What did you do for the bolts for the body mounts, did you buy longer ones? If so can you pop a link to them or have the specs for the thread pitch? I'm about to do mine and just need the bolts
@turnbullgarage882 ай бұрын
@@mab01247 I won’t be able to get that for you but if you pull one of your bed bolts out you can measure them and just go to a hardware store and get longer ones. That said, I believe they are 8x1.25 mm. The cab has 2 different size boots, 6 and 8 mm. Again, you could pull one and go to a store with it to get one 2” longer, or 50mm longer. You can drive the truck with one bolt missing.

Hey man I'm in the middle of a 2" lift (GoldStarParts) on my Sambar. I'm working on a "how-to" video for it that I'll throw on my channel when I'm done. More importantly, where did you get your front bumper?
@turnbullgarage88 Жыл бұрын
I have a link in the video I posted on my front bumper. Got it on Ebay.

How is your winch mounted? I have a Sambar and want to do the same thing
@turnbullgarage882 жыл бұрын
Winch is mounted directly to the bumper. The YJ bumper was mounted using some custom brackets I fabbed up.

@turnbullgarage88 Жыл бұрын
@@blatantrefusal I bought on Ebay, it is for a Jeep YJ. I think I paid $169
@turnbullgarage88 Жыл бұрын
It was a lot of work is all I can say. Some custom brackets welded to the frame and also made a bracket inside the cab that spreads the force out over a large area of the thin sheet metal. I had the entire dash and heater box removed to do it.

Nice video. Currently planning for a newer TT2 Sambar myself and will be doing the 2" body lift. The rubber boot for the steering shaft (in your video) appears to be slightly off center after the lift. Is the shaft still sealed?
@turnbullgarage8811 ай бұрын
Good eye, it is not sealed. That said, no water comes in at all. Not sure if it was from lifting or not as the shaft seems to go straight up.

Not really, just a custom made box to fit in spare tire space. Measured and gave it to sheet metal guy. Thanks.

Are the blocks for the bed 2" tall x 3" wide? Trying to figure out what i need to piece together my own kit. I basically have everything else besides the fuel filler hose
@turnbullgarage889 ай бұрын
2” tall, not sure on width, probably around 3”. The 2 at the very rear of frame will need to be cut as they are quite close together.
