2 inch spindle drop on 05 Chevy Silverado

Switching up the content on this video. We worked on our friends Chevy Silverado this time. He wanted me to install his 2 inch drop spindles.

You can grind the ball joint bolt and put a smaller nut so you can ride with 17’s and 20’s with ease

Did it make a difference on the drop ? How low did it go ? Thinking of doing this to mine cause mine is pretty much squating on 22s lol

So i grinded the bolt down and i put the wheel on and it still wont clear like if the nut is too big im on 17s

I had to grind about an 1/8” off the bolt as well, drilled a small hole through it and added a cotter pin.

Would I have to replace the ball joints on 20’s

With 20’s it will clear just fine

What do you have to do to clear some 17s

If they don’t clear just shave off the ball joint bolt, it sticks out quite a bit and usually will tear up the inside of your wheel barrel

Can this be done with basic tools or do you need special tools

You can do it with a basic ratchet and socket set and some wrenches. Along with a hammer and a pry bar

Sorry for the late response, I’m not sure since they do change. Were you able to find out? I googled both years and spindles and the part numbers are different

Was the rear also dropped? If it was what drop it had on the rear?

The rear got a flip kit. When it came to me it had a 3/5 drop. I went ahead and added the lowering spindles up front to even it out more because the nose sat higher

It will definitely clear bro. We have his truck on 22s now and it clears no problems. Even if we wouldn’t have shaved the nut on the ball joint.

You need bigger rims that's the same issue I was having I just went with some 22's. anything under that will have a possibility of rubbing or hitting that ball joint bolt

Would it affect it later on since he’s running with stock springs ?
