✿ Veganlovlie Recipes / Flatbread : In one of my What I Ate Wednesday videos, I presented these sweet potato flatbreads with mashed avocados as what I ate for breakfast on that day (kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3TSfJykfq-seq8). I have had quite a few requests for the recipe since then. So, I thought I'd share the recipe; it is such an easy one with just two ingredients. Who doesn't like a two-ingredient recipe?! One important procedure in this recipe is to use the sweet potato while it is hot. The heat makes a much softer roti. By the way, white sweet potatoes would also work well in this recipe although the dough may require a tablespoon of water added in as white sweet potatoes tend to be a little drier than the orange ones. These sweet potato rotis also keep well in an airtight container for the next day. Reheating them on a tawa or skillet brings their softness back. They go well with sweet as well as savoury fillings. I do suggest you pair them with some spicy curry as their subtle sweetness makes a palatable contrast. ✿ FULL PRINTABLE RECIPE ✿ ▶ www.veganlovlie.com/2015/03/sweet-potato-flatbread-no-added-oil.html Concerning Gluten-Free options: I have experimented with a store-bought gluten-free flour blend but it didn't work well. It had a blend of rice flour, tapioca flour, cornstarch and some gum. Some people have tried with chickpea flour+millet mix and they said they obtained some decent results although they had to do smaller ones because they were a bit more tricky to handle. Other people have tried with coconut flour and reported that the rotis turned out good enough although they had to keep flouring them when rolling them out. I suggest if you using one of these gluten-free flours/mix, you try roll then out in between 2 sheets of parchment or wax paper. It’s so nice to watch a ‘real’ recipe video on KZbin. I am so bored of these ridiculous over polished videos in some ridiculous kitchen that looks like a studio set. This is a proper recipe that I would want to eat and not some dumb Buddha bowl that has 10 ingredients and would cost you $10 to make one portion. The presenter here is lovely. I just feel like I’m sat in a friend’s kitchen and they are teaching me how to cook. Very relaxing style. I’m looking forward to making this one. So glad I found your channel x

Thank you. This bread is easy and delicious. I make it with equal parts oat flour and mashed sweet potatoes. I add onion powder, too, or, cinnamon. I went and found an electric griddle to cook them. I place them on a pan and freeze them before moving them into an airtight container to be stored frozen. When I feel like having some I pull them from the freezer and warm them in the toaster oven.

I like your version of sweet potato flat bread, you gave a lot details in your videos for example "not to over knead the dough to prevent from adding too much flour into the dough and it would turn out to be harder bread". This is important to someone who totally have no idea how to make dough with flour. I did try to make dumplings but the dough turned out to be too hard probably due to over kneading 😩😢 You also mentioned in your video the thickness of the flatbread should be around 2mm, and the duration of cooking each flatbread. I like how you use a towel to keep the bread soft and warm too. I am going to try this for our lunch today together with mango cilantro salsa, and some vegetables. Thanks again for the great recipe.

Instead of rolling it into a circle keep it a cylindrical shape and cut small pieces, boil them and you have sweet potato gnocchi! 😊

I made these with gluten-free flour (buckwheat flour) and had them with moong dal. They were extremely delicious... I even did this with purple sweet potatoes! 😍😋

One word: "yumilicious!" So I made and had it for lunch today, mine came out soft and chewy. The edges weren't round, more of uneven cracks but turned out delicious. I paired it with tofu, vegs, lentil hummus.. Thank you!

Love these!!! I made them several times using both fresh and canned sweet potatoes and they come out really well. Using Krusteaz Gluten Free flour mix and having no issues rolling it out although I do not get much "bubbling." They come out nice and soft though following your suggestions. I also season them using an everything bagel seasoning blend of garlic, onion, seas salt, poppy seeds and sesames seeds and it makes these irresistibly yummy by themselves or as an accompaniment to soups and stews too. Thanks so much for this super easy very yummy recipe and the terrific suggestions and tips you include in the video.

These turned out great. I used mostly spelt flour, with just a dash of all purpose flour, and the dough was so elastic and easy that next time I will try all spelt. Nice subtle sweet flavor- would probably be delicious with a little cinnamon or cardamom in the dough, and served hot with a sprinkling of sugar. For any Scandinavians- this reminded me a lot of lompe after I smelled and bit it. If you have been missing lompe, try this recipe but replace the sweet potato with steamed/boiled regular potato, and maybe use potato starch when rolling it out!! Yay pølse med lomper!! Teenuja, thank you for this video. I just made this and the roti is soft, sweet, and absolutely delicious! I put several small, white sweet potatoes with an inch of water in a covered bowl in the microwave for about 8 minutes in order to steam them through, cut them in half while hot, and the skins just pinched right off. As you said, I did have to add a bit of water to make the dough wet enough. Didn't have a rolling pin so I used a wine bottle, and I kept the stove fire on medium and the roti cooked fast without burning. If anyone, like me, lacks the required finesse to use a normal spatula, I recommend a pancake flipper, lol. I work for a lot of Indian households who often feed me, and I always tell them how much I appreciate it because although Indian food is one of my favorite cuisines, it always seems way too complicated to try to make it. I never seem to have all the specialty ingredients or the right kitchen tools. This 2-ingredient flatbread is the perfect fix! I'm texting everyone in quarantine pictures of my beautiful stack of roti, lol :-) Your video instructions were very clear, and this was super simple to make. I liked & subscribed, and I look forward to trying some of your other recipes. Again, thank you!

Love it. I seasoned mines a bit with some blended herbs, such as carapola leaves, garlic, bandanya, and I love pepper so I grind all into a paste and added...it give it a really nice flavor. I'm an island person so I love spicy flavored food...

I used the one by pillsbury. Just roll slightly thicker and use a spatula to move from cutting board or countertop to pan. Mine all bubbled up, toasted beautifully and they are super soft and flexible.

If you use bobs red mill one for one you can roll thinner and they won’t fall apart. Very good.

I made the sweet potato wraps and they turned out so awesome. It is so easy to do, I probably won't be buying bread anymore! I also got to brainstorming and tried it with ripe bananas that were frozen, after they thawed, I put it together and found because of the water content in the banana, I had to add more flour. However, they turned out just as awesome as the sweet potato ones. My mind is going crazy with the possibilities. LOL

Hi, thank you for the tutorial. I've watched it a few times. Kept meaning to try it. Now that I'm sheltering in place I finally made it. So very yummy. We just ate it with moong dal. My daughter said she thought it was even better than what she gets in her favorite restaurant.

Omgoodness! I've been searching youtube for a quick homemade bread made with yams and plantains that I can eat with sandwiches and with snacks. This is perfect. There are fry bread recipes but I don't want all that oil. I eat gluten free so I will have to substitute almond or coconut flour with regular flour. When I make this I will repost and let you know how it turned out.:)

I haven't cooked it yet...:) Ive attempted bread recipes on my own using coconut or almond flour and I haven't been successful, the texture's awful. I'll probably use Pamelas Products bisquit and scone mix or one of her other baking products.

I was super absent minded in the kitchen today, peeled the sweet potatoe, then just mixed it with flour without measuring the amounts, worked the dough even shorter than you did and yet the rotis came out spectacular. They are super soft and can be folded without cracking and yet solid and hold the content will. Thanks for this great discovery. I wonder if i can make it for a regular potato?

Yes you can. Just make sure not to add any extra water... also you can use a little spice of your choice for added flavour..

I like that you do them without oil. A friend said I had to bring snacks out with us today and have not much to work with. Tried these with a mix of chickpea and lentil flour. The next time I will do them your way. Thank you!

Im back here after 2 years just to say Thank you again for this amazing recipe vid! They are so so delicious and so easy! Even I, when i was an absolute noob cook 2 years ago managed to make them very easily and I. made. them. loads! They're so lovely and soft, perfect for nestling a nice filling in :) We came up with what we call 'Garden BBQ' ((blended tomatoes, mustard, maple syrup, tomato puree) fried with vegan Linda Mcartney shredded chicken) that goes perfectly with these!

I would add nutmeg, cinnamon a bit of sugar and 50% more potato in the mixture. I am going to try this.

I have made this recipe 3 times since I found this video a couple of months ago. So good and easy to make!! I use wheat flour with mine, I stuff them with salad and my home made Italian dressing!! So good, TFS!!!!!

Wow! This is great. I was gifted with stone baked sweet potatoes. I peeled them up and froze them to eat at a later date. I'm going to try to make your sweet potato flatbread. Can't believe I don't need oil or baking soda or water! Woo hoo!

I'm not vegan, or even just vegetarian. But these look delicious & easy to make, a simple accompaniment for a light salad or for a healthy option instead of store bought bread for sandwiches
