It's been my experience that when someone attempts to minimize another person's accomplishments that they are projecting their own insecurities. You are a tremendously talented artist and you have every right to be proud. My personal aesthetic is at the opposite end of the spectrum from yours, but I always find inspiration not only from your art, but your joyful personality. I appreciate all that you do! Sometimes when I'm having trouble making a decision about a journal I'm working on, I say to myself, "Luise says there are no rules!" So I do what makes me happy! Thank you!

Totally agree with you on everything you’ve said here! Especially that other people try to bring people down when they feel insecure. We call it “Tall Poppy Syndrome” in Australia, where people try to stop others from rising above their level or cut them down to size because they are too afraid or can’t reach above where the masses tend to self-level. It’s really sad that it seems to be an endemic human trait. We should be supporting others who reach further, as it gives us motivation & inspiration to do it ourselves.

IGNORE the spoil sport. Raspberry to them. When creating a 3 dimensional Blue Footed Booby from a whole bra, it was the greatest feeling of accomplishment. It was a challenge for Breast Cancer awareness. I won Most Creative Award after being told I was not creative enough to join an Art Quilt Group. Proud, you bet! Your bird house is on the top of my list of favorite things I've seen made.

I simply cannot abide rude and mean spirited people, and I’m glad you spoke up about it. I hope you also addressed it in your German video. Of course, we feel proud when we create something beautiful, discover a new technique or figure out a solution to a difficult issue. Art is subjective to a great degree, tastes differ, but frankly, some people are more talented than others. You have a God given gift in creating art, and I’m thrilled you freely share that gift with us. I believe the reason you sometimes find it difficult to explain your process is because it is intuitive for you, it just comes naturally. Sending hugs from KY, USA.

Luise, You should be happy and proud of the art you create, you are an immense source of inspiration. One of the reasons I so enjoy watching you is that you do not act like you are better than everyone else, although sometimes I think you are! Thank you so much for sharing your work. And congratulations for becoming one of Tim Holtz's makers. Until later, Judy

So beautiful Luise and exquisitely unique. Of course you can be proud and happy of your work and be free to express that joy. There is such a thing as false humility like Uriah Heap in the book David Copperfield. There is a difference between feeling proud of your achievements and grandiose pride where you think you are better than all others and would puff out your chest and strut about with your nose in the air. That grandiose pride is the kind that "goeth before a fall."Expressing your happiness and being proud of your creativity is congruent and is attractive because you couple it with gratitude. I like to see how courageous you are and conscientious in your experimentation and presentation of your creative process. ❤ Arohanui from me in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

How dare someone say you’re not humble enough 😡 You should indeed be super proud of who you are & what you do. Those comments usually come from jealousy & feelings of inadequacy. It’s called “Tall poppy syndrome” in Australia, where people try to cut the people who stand out down to their size instead of reaching up to their heights. I’m so glad you realised that you can indeed be proud of yourself & hope you didn’t take their nasty comment to heart.

It’s funny. We have very different styles, but probably 99 times out of 100 when you put something somewhere to see if it works or not, I totally agree with you. So when you’re asking your rhetorical “does this work?” I’m sure I’m not the only one who is actually answering “yes! That is great!”

Luise, one of the things that drew me to you and thus, subscribe, is your humility! Some people have been raised to believe that pointing out your own accomplishment, is boastful, that is wrong of course, it is not boastful! As you explained in that video, you discovered the technique, you didn’t say that you went on a mission to invent something and so you are now superior! Don’t let that kind of personal attack get in your head, we love your joy and excitement, you are very humble!💕🇨🇦

When we make art and are "in the flow," we have opened a portal through which the creative force of the universe can pass into this world. This is no small thing. It is a process filled with joy, intention, harmony, excitement, and power that comes not from us but through us. While we might be humble about the role we play in this process, we can't help but be filled with exuberance and a sometimes fierce pride in being part of that process. That is the joy and exuberance I see you you, Luise.

In Australia we call it "tall poppy syndrome". This comment is only used by people who have very low self-esteem and can't cope with people being happy and proud of themselves. That wasn't explained very well but you have every right to be proud of your achievements, we are very proud of you! How can you learn from someone who has no enthusiasm for one's own work? 1:25:31 Really helpful tip at this spot. When you find a perfect spot for a focal point, do not glue it down yet, challenge yourself to place it in a somewhat opposite way (and therefore surprising, interesting, hooligan, in a word -- artful). Love everything routine, formula and process-based (well, I am a data analyst during daytime, so it is natural to me). Thanks a lot for this video. I loved it. And agree, it is OK to be proud about ourselves when we really are and it is ok to tell visitors and subscribers about that. And congrats to Tim Holtz’s team on an excellent creator joining it!!

I wanted to address the comment that someone made to you about "not being humble". I think you are very humble because you share everything you learn with the viewers, you don't keep it to yourself how much more humble can that be and yes it is great to be positive and happy when you discover a technique that you have not seen before. There is nothing wrong with that. I have learned so much from you, and you have brought back my creative side and I thank you so much for that.

Once again, beautiful! Had to have those butterflies. As to the negative commenter, perhaps she/he was raised to think like that. In my family, it was understood that we should not say anything positive about ourselves or our accomplishments because society thought children, especially girls, should be quiet and humble. I had the worst time in interviews trying to sell myself to the employer to get hired. It’s a shame that we unintentionally do that to children. So, like most negative comments, it has much to do with them and nothing to do with you. I have been using the watercolor technique that you invented since I watched that video and I’m having so much fun. You are my creative muse. Thank you!

Oh boo to the person who left the negative comment! You should be proud and happy to have discovered a new technique!! You fully stated at the beginning of the video that you looked and couldn't find anyone else who did it, so you did your diligence in trying to credit someone if they did it first. But you still discovered it on your own, which is amazing! Your creativity and experimentation with everything is something that I find amazing and what instantly drew me to you once I found you. As you were placing clusters against the page I could see and "feel" where you were going when you found the right place for each item and explained why you felt it worked. As you said, the obvious place is not always the "right" place--it is the unexpected that brings the most interest. As for the haters, you can only pray for them. Don't let them bring you down. Luise, I have not watched this whole video yet (I'm "saving" and only watching a few minutes at a time, as a test!) and I didn't see the original comment, but if it's about you being "not humble enough", that is RIDICULOUS. Obviously this person has not watched your videos...you include plenty of experiments and you leave in your "fails". I am just starting out in junk journaling and have learned SO MUCH from you. I am a retired teacher who spent over 30 years in the classroom, and I feel qualified to say that you are an excellent teacher. Your techniques and the way you share them, especially by adding a video in English, are always inspiring! I feel you really should be proud of all you are doing for the junk journal community because your enthusiasm and willingness to go into "what if" territory helps all of us. Thank you and just ignore that negative ijit. Btw-ijit is a Texan word for someone not worth our time or effort.

If someone were to ask me, "Please, describe Luise?"...'prideful' or 'boastful' would NOT be a word I'd use. I have NEVER found you to be conceited or arrogant...not at all. In fact, I've even seen you doubt yourself sometimes, or feel insecure about what you're doing. Truly "prideful" people don't do that. Their egos shine through...obnoxiously.🙄 Unfortunately, some people feel so inadequate or jealous that they can only perceive negativity. That's a big problem in this world, imo. So many humans feel the need to knock others down to feel better about themselves instead of uplifting their fellow humans...much like that commenter. I say, try to ignore their hurtful words. It's their own unhappiness speaking.💔 Being a braggart or a snob is very different than feeling, or KNOWing, that you've done a great job. There's nothing wrong with being happy, excited...& even "proud", with yourself when you've done something fantastic, or discovered something new & amazing. What's even better is when you're excited to share it with everyone so that they can feel joy too!💖 You ALWAYS share what you've learned with us, instead of just keeping it all to yourself. It's obvious to me that you love to bring joy to others through your crafting. And, I thank you!💗💗💗

Hello Luise, I'm from Portugal and I've been watching your videos for a while. I love what you do. I watch the English video after I've watched the German version. Love to listen to you speaking your natural language. ❤ May I ask you what stamps you used for the large embossed Butterfly and Moth? Keep searching and can't find them...

Danke schön, Luise, ich habe den stempel gerade gekauft. (I hope I didn't make may spelling mistakes. I haven't spoken or written in german for 48 years! That's why I love watching the geraman videos and listen to you.) Your videos are real classes for me. Thank you and always be ptoud of yourself, you sure have reasons to be proud. Xx Marisa

For me the focal point changing from one butterfly to the other is because of the orientation. The one that is not upright is not a butterfly to me. It is a design. I posted too soon. You started talking about that rude remark. The first person who should be proud of you is YOU. If we aren't proud of ourselves then no one else will be proud of us either. That person needs to be humble for sure. Why would she or he think they were qualified to even remark on the subject. 😅

Maybe the rude commentor was having a bad day. someone peed in her Cheerio's or something. what I find strange is when our children are little we get excited for every first thing they do. then somewhere along the way we expect them to be humble. why do we get excited over a first bite or a pee in the potty but but as adults we aren't suppose to be proud of ourselves??? I was helping y hunny replace the cooling system in my son's computer and we were both getting frustrated because it was impossible to partly assemble and then insert screws through the case into the system it was too loose and sloppy. I had the idea to get tooth picks and insert into the holes and through the case to stabilize it. pull a toothpick and insert a screw repeat 7 more times. personally I thought I was a genius. no one else in the house thought of it... everyone else wanted to give up. So be proud of you. as an adult we don't always get the validation we need and deserve. I love your ideas and your processes. tell her don't freak your freak. LOL 🤣🥰

I think people that don’t have anything better to do are not happy with themselves so they have to nitpick other peoples work. They need to shut up about it. And get a life.
