idk man to a cynic this just seems like a weird orientalist turn you're doing because you have a library with a sitar soundfont

I don't see how this is orientalist when there are no illusions to any culture within the song? From my understanding it's only really a problem when the sitar is associated / paired with the Middle East and even if this song was associated with the Middle East it's not even really that problematic but more of an issue of lack of accurate representation of Middle Eastern music. Sorry if I'm blowing this into more of a conservation than it deserves but I get scared when I see comments like this and my fear of it blowing up into some sort of cancel culture when I don't think (I could be wrong) there's anything "weird orientalist" here, someone's just using a sitar.

I defiantly understand the "weird orientalist" reaction to the sitar though. It feels like the sitar is always paired with some Middle Eastern adjacent theme and that's the only kind of music you ever really hear when it comes to representation of the area when (from what I've heard at least) it doesn't reflect the kinds music that come from the general area.
