I was going along the seafloor in Alpha Sapphire, just trying to get somewhere but not super urgently so I couldn't be bothered wasting my money on repels, when I encountered this purple-shelled Clamperl. I didn't know what shinies were at the time, but I'd never encountered a Clamperl that looked like that before, so my instinct was that it was rare and I should catch it. Chikorita is genuinely my favorite Johto starter. It's mostly nostalgia, I suppose, but it was the one I picked as a kid and never really regretted it. Is it great in battle? No, but it didn't really need to be since I wasn't competitively battling. It was good enough for a playthrough team and I like its design more than the Cyndaquil and Totodile lines.

Venta being a corruption of the word 'Ventus', which happens to be the latin word for Wind. Thus, it's on-brand, works with the theming... And sounds kinda cool! Also, let's be honest... Wigglytuff and Whimsicott make sense as Team Sky Pokemon. Whimsi's big thing is that it's a dandelion, and what do dandelion seeds do? Fly in the air! Plus, it gets Tailwind, so... And Wigglytuff?
