20 plus years later and New Orleans still struggling after Katrina 😢

They're suffering as well as many Americans, because the politicians can't make money off helping them.

There is a national shortage of affordable housing! Out dated food ? Well that’s every food bank . Why not give people a food card to buy what they want ? And it’s always private non profits that help people never the government.

I live in Asheville and I’ve seen and witnessed the aftermath of what Hurricane Helene has done to my hometown of 25 years. There is still help out there for the residents that lost their homes from Flooding, landslides, and falling trees. Churches, volunteer groups, and other non profit organizations are still doing the best they can. Most of the residents have no flood insurance after the storm so there regular insurance companies are not covering the damage and that’s shameful. Me and my family survived the hurricane but my neighborhood was destroyed from flooding and falling trees.

Breaks my heart to see how our government has abandoned them.

I am so sorry North Carolinans are being ignored while foreigners get sent food, products & money. It Is Wrong & unjust. No doubt

Thank you for reporting the reality of the situation. Would you consider doing a story on an elderly veteran affected by Helene? His name is Lanny. He lives in NC and is in need of $50k to build a culvert and rebuild his driveway after Helene destroyed it. The only access to/from his house is a dangerous, steep embankment, and there is risk of more landslides and destruction. His story is featured in yt video by Carolina Airshots titled Elderly Veteran Stranded by Helene... His fund page is in the video's description. Please help if you can.

I am a registered Democrat from NY. At the taxpayers expense: 1) Migrants are gifted pre loaded debit cards 2) food vouchers 3) FREE room & board 4) hundreds of thousands of migrant children are enrolled in school. Not to mention over run health clinics and hospitals. How about we start helping our own people now
@JennyTownsend-r5x11 сағат бұрын
Yes. Migrants shouldn't get what American citizens should get. They Live here now.

Will take years to recover, many destroyed businesses wont recover, many jobs are gone, some people wont recover. Those that can should look for financial opportunities elsewhere and rebuild their lives.

Only 8 weeks now since Hurricane Helene. Some people ( especially youn news reporters who havent watched a home be built )... many people dont know it takes more than a merely 8 weeks to build a home.

Thank you for reporting on these poor folks. I feel our politicians NEVER REMEMBER THAT WE VOTE FOR THEM AND THEY WORK FOR US, not foreign countries. We have MONEY for wars, weapons, and corrupt foreign governments, but never for Americans.

We can’t even help our own people in this Country, this is so shameful and disgusting , I am almost sorry I am an American right now

Just gave billions to Ukraine. Today pledged 1 billion for Africa. What about our own citizens? Why is t western NC a priority?
@ClawsByCaseyYouTube10 сағат бұрын
But let's spend billions to rebuild in other nations in Africa first. What a middle finger to all these people, the people in Hawaii, and everyone else affected by storms in OUR own country.

I am poor, but have a home (apartment in 3 storey brick 39 unit building with kind, gentle resident manager & her great family). I get free meals delivered every 2 weeks from Mom's Meals , refrigerated, lasts 2 weeks. Then, a new batch. And I have choices to order. Also, I have CalFresh food stamps EBT Card for over $200. Every month. Go to WFM every week. Vegetarian food is super. WFM promotes Vega & vegetarian foods. Great fruit. Good prices.

Quit providing money & food to other countries. Feed & house the American citizens who have been through natures catastrophes first. Take care of all our homeless Veterans and our indigent citizens in need. If any money or resources left after the American citizens are taken care of only then can our government help those in other countries. Read something today about how there are still at least 3 motels in NYC full of illegal immigrants living free.Someone in our government is still paying for the illegal immigrants to stay there & providing them with food!

Yeah it's going to take that amount of time It's going to take from 8 to 15 months to recover, and that is just halfway.. Things take time unfortunately it is just super unfortunate that the hurricane season was bumping up against the winter season Everybody knew about it everybody saw at that time..

Lesson here is don't rely on the government for help unless you are an illegal immigrant.
