Didn’t quite understand why David’s heart condemned him after he numbered the people. Thanks for clarifying, indeed numbers mean nothing when God’s power is a factor in a situation! ✝️

That's a good explanation of why this angered God. My question was, why in 2 Samuel 24 was God the one to incite David to conduct a census, but in 1 Chronicles, it was Satan. Also, why was God angry at David if he told him to conduct a census( 2 Samuel 24)?

Go look up 2 Samuel 24 in NASB version which is closest to Greek translation. This bothered me too until I saw my version pinned God as the one who told David to count. In actuality it was David who was incited to tell Joab to go and count.

God has to allow/approve satan to tempt man. It was still David at fault.

I started reading the Bible cover-to-cover quite some time ago. Have you ever seen the badges earned by a Scout to sew upon their sash to represent an accomplishment? Whenever I finish a book of the Bible, I earn myself this imaginary badge, and yes, this morning with my reading and your video I earned the 2 Samuel badge. These little 5 minute videos help. May I ask a question? 2 Samuel 24:1 reads, ""Go and count the people of Israel and Judah," the Lord told him; so why would David be given 3 choices of punishment for his obedience? I understand the concept that follow the Lord before men, but just not connecting the dots properly on this. I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, but at least I am trying. I know that you are onward to Chronicles next, but I need to stay the course and go through 1 Kings next, I'd probably get lost if I took a detour. May the Lord bless you for your efforts.

It confuses me, too, and I also asked a similar question. It appears that God's anger was aroused against Israel, so he had David do it, but I don't understand how David sinned, except in 1 Chronicles, it said Satan incited him.

@@cs2m12I was confused as well, until I read 1 Chronicles 21: 1-8. The problem was The LORD was angry with David because se HE wanted David to know that it was HIM that was allowing David and his army to defeat their enemies, and not the number of people in his army.

I find it interesting that God gives David punishment to choose from; this or that. And both are awful. Yep, lean on God!
