Thank you so much for your video...I have never had a dumb cane before and moved into a house that came w/2 different kinds. I live in FL and so the weather is perfect to grow them year round outside, as I cannot have them indoors as I have furbabies. Well, last year they did fine however this year our temps got almost to freezing which is rare for SWFL and it killed my dumb cane. I did not know that the cold would do this. I have been trying almost everything to bring them back to life and was ready to throw them away UNTIL I thought to myself I wonder if I can propagate theses even though the cold killed the root system? Sure enough I looked on KZbin and found you, well I saw a couple of videos but NONE were as explanatory and as complete IMO as yours was!! Once again thank you. I've already done the glass container and have some rooting and am now getting ready to put some clippings/stems in soil. I am not sure if am able to add photos however I did hit subscribe and I liked your video. Be blessed friend 🪴😁😺

@FreakyBo0o, I am fine and thank you :-) They would make it, plz allow some more time :-) Good luck :-)
@FreakyBo0o4 жыл бұрын
@@GardeningUpbeat thanks. I'll try to be more patient then. :-) Also, my dumb cane was pretty giant. It was two main stems, large and tall. I think I overwatered them at some point - I thought the top inches were dry but they must not have been. So over the months the bottom leaves went yellow and fell one by one. Eventually the main stems were so rotten at the base that they fell out of the soil. I'm trying to save them. I had kept three giant leaves on one of the leaf cuttings I try to root in water. I notice that your cuttings only have one leaf. I think it's taking longer to root because it's mainly trying to keep the big leaves alive. So I've removed the big leaves to only keep one on each cutting. Hopefully it helps with rooting. How often do you renew the water? And with the stem cuttings, how often do you water the soil? Many thanks
@GardeningUpbeat4 жыл бұрын
@FreakyBo0o, They would make it and wishing you all the best :-) Yeah, you did the good thing by removing the big leaves. If cuttings have more leaves, it would be difficult for them as they don't have roots. For renewing water - I do it once in 10 days and sometime I take much longer time, lazy :-) For watering in the soil - only when top 1 inch soil dry out. So, on average, once in 7-10 days and don't water too heavily like we water for any outdoor plants. Just little bit so that moist is maintained without being too soggy. I hope, you got it :-) Good luck with your plants :-)

Hi! I have my diffenbachia in water for a month and nothing yet. I see 3 nodes green bumps do you think the roots will come soon?
@GardeningUpbeat4 жыл бұрын
@Ana Andrea Xoxo, Depending on temperature, cuttings might take different time to produce roots and since it's one month, there is still hope :-) No worry, Dieffenbachia is really a hardy plant and it won't die so soon. Just please change the water in 7-10 days once if possible. Some of my Dieffenbachia cuttings are in water from last 8 months...Good luck and thank you for watching the video :-)

Hey Hi Buddy.. This was very informative. I am trying my luck. Just wanted to check how many times did you water the plant that was in the soil for the course of one month. Any tips on how frequently I should water?
@GardeningUpbeat4 жыл бұрын
@Rajesh Tewari, Thank you for your feedback, appreciate it. It would be bit difficult to inform you the exact no..but as per I remember, I didn't water them more than 4 times in one month. Once in 10 days almost...Since they were in shady area, they didn't need too much water. Anyway, they are very hardy and if you keep the soil just moist enough, it would be okay. You can water only when you see that top soil is looking dry. Or else, please don't. Hope that helps, thank you :-)
@rajeshtewari33604 жыл бұрын
@@GardeningUpbeatThanks buddy. I had kept the plant that was in the soil near a fairly lit area. But to my disappointment the stem rotted, maybe because of watering. The soil mixture was exactly the way you recommended. Can I use the soil mix to grow something else?
@GardeningUpbeat4 жыл бұрын
@Rajesh Tewari, Yah, it's because of more water. Perhaps, you can try once again and use just sand. If you use sand, you would need to water a bit more :-) The best idea would be to propagate them via water - that way, you won't even have to think anything about watering the cuttings or about stem rot. It's better if you don't use the same soil directly. Instead, you can mix it with some fresh soil and grow other plants :-) Thank you :-)
