2 TIPS TO THROW FLAT IN DISC GOLF w/ PHILO BRATHWAITE

Күн бұрын

In this video, world-famous tour pro and disc golf coach Philo Brathwaite explains two critical tips to throwing flatter disc golf drives. Most new players struggle with a throw that rises up high and hooks back hard to the left (for right-handed backhands), but following these essential steps will keep your shots flat and in the fairway. Although there are two main throwing tips that Philo goes over, there are several important disc golf lessons that are included in this driving clinic to help your drives become more consistent. Let us know if you have any questions about these disc golf tips in the comments below and Philo or one of our disc golf coaches will try to answer them asap. Enjoy!

This video literally changed my drive. I always had an issue with a very high heiser. I watched your video and practiced the motions while in the office today, then went out to play a couple rounds after work. My longest drive previously was 233. Today I got a nice flat 260. Felt amazing! I didn’t feel like I was throwing as hard as before, but had better speed, power, and accuracy.

Standing tall and upright is the safest, most efficient posture for the way our spine rotates during a disc golf throw, especially a flat, straight one. This becomes extra apparent for our tall lanky players.

I honestly think I've subconsciously been hunched over on my approach. Explains why many of my throws are more hyzer than flat. I've been playing for almost 20 years but my mechanics are pretty poor. I never really learned the right way to play so I have 2 decades of bad habits. It's probably going to be harder to learn now than if I just started playing because I have to erase everything I've known about disc golf and relearn.

Philo, this is one of the most helpful disc golf lessons I have seen. I especially like your use of a golf club to help visualize the slope of terrain along the target line. I carry a folding reacher to retrieve discs from places I don't want to put my hands. I have started using it to in a manner similar to your golf club method. It has taught me that the hills are usually more subtle than they might first appear. That has enabled me to throw from about sternum high and still get a slightly upgrade trajectory. I used to reach down back to about waist high for such shots. Not only did they rarely go as high as I expected, but they faded badly due to their nose up tendency. Thank you for all the other aspects of that lesson also. I am now standing tall and looking better. I won't say good yet. I still have to learn to putt a lot better. I would welcome your lesson on putting. Thanks. 75-year old DG fanatic.
