Thanks so much for watching! It was a great Season 1 and I'm looking forward to Season 2.

6:27 I don't care how weird magnets falling slowly through copper looks, the fact that 68% of people thought that perpetual motion was real is not ok.

The hard part is I first didn't believe it but then I saw so many videos about it being real that I wondered. Then another video in that list I don't remember which seemed unlikely.

@@moriahcalis3165 Well, I'll give you a tip for the future, perpetual motion machines do not and CANNOT exist. Every time energy is converted, part of it is lost in the form of heat energy through friction. No matter how small the loss it, it will eventually sap enough energy for the system to stop.

in many, I feel it became less of a "think about the science" and kinda veered more into a "which of these was easiest to edit/fake" (as a suggestion, maybe add the occasional jump cut into some of the real ones, or have part of the object obscured - like on the spinning wire the top cut off of view so it looks like you could possibly be holding it and turning it? just some ideas for making it a bit harder, but regardless these videos have been really fun to watch and I've had a blast showing them to my niblings and seeing them puzzle out the answers!) can't wait for season 2! :D

The wii sensor bar straight up got me… I thought the bar did something aside from emit IR. I mean, it’s called a sensor bat, not an emitter bar
@Couldnt_Be_Bothered11 ай бұрын
It got me because I thought it worked in reverse where the Wii remote admits the signal and the sensor bar, you know, SENSES IT!

I am curious how much viral videos affected the outcomes. For example, the cotton candy one did not get me as there was a viral video of the raccoon washing cotton candy and being confused. I’d also heard rumors of the wii and candles trick, and I’ve personally done the lighting smoke trick.

Rule of thumb: if it's a "perpetual motion" machine, it's fake. Perpetual motion would break the law of conservation of energy. The system will lose energy through friction or thermal radiation and will need energy put into the system to continue moving. Simply put, there is no free lunch. I like to say "The hardest part of making a perpetual motion machine is finding out where to hide the battery."
@haleyw5677 Жыл бұрын
I think the perpetual motion one was difficult because the magnets in the tube just seemed so fake. I got it right because I knew the machine wasn’t real, but I had no idea that would happen with a copper tube

@LootyStuff Жыл бұрын
I think round 1 of ep 6 caught people out because it was founded in a half truth. Using a true fact to lie to people is often much more effective, as with little effort the lie could be true, and so it's hard to differentiate.

I'm actually shocked at how many people thought the Wii trick was fake because I thought it was widely known that it is a legit solution if you lost your sensor bar

I'm kinda surprised more people didnt know the Wii Sensor Bar one, but i guess im that sort of nerd. e8r2, what the hell. one of them is a perpetual motion machine! Even if you dont make the logical connections with copper windings in motors and generators, *perpetual motion*. Funnily enough, even before I got to the perpetual motion machine, before I saw this video, I saw another video by another KZbinr showing the exact same trick with the copper tube, and then experimenting with it, so I knew that was real. Still shocked that people thought the perpetual motion machine was real.
@cinnamoncat8950 Жыл бұрын
Yeah Ive seen multiple videos showing that trick, though I was still surprised at just how dang long it took to get through the tube and figured it was gonna be a half fake where he slowed down the video or smth, until I saw the ball machine and instantly knew it was fake when it went back up

The one with the perpetual motion machine, i can only say that the machine was not fake and it works just like you shown. It is not perpetual due to the batteries. I kinda found that one misleading.

People were actually pretty good, but I legitimately predicted that 90-95% of people would have know the perpetual motion machine was fake, because they are impossible and the way it speeds up seems so unnatural, so unlike everything else, I am legitimately disappointed in them. They didn't know any better, and no hate of course, as I love to see people learn new things, but I don't know how this isn't common knowlege, particularly among people who would actually have seen that.

I honestly do not agree that the perpetual motion one was fake, as the device does actually make the ball move like that; only your explanation why it did do that was wrong. All other fake ones were always actually tampered either by video editing or directly faking it somehow.
