If the weather is no more than 7C your milk will be fine outside your back door. We have a small fridge and in the winter store our vegetables and fruit juice in a plastic box with a lid (was given by the council to store paper recycling) its uv proof, and just outside the back door in the shade.

My aunt used to do the same with her fridge items in winter to save on the electric. She had an old butler sink on her balcony, turned off her fridge and put all the fridge items in the butler sink. She lived in London.

No matter how hot the weather my butter NEVER goes in the frig. It’s kept in a lower cupboard. If the fat content is higher than 45% (which it is) it won’t go rancid.

I think the reason food goes in the cupboard without glass is that a lot of foodstuff is best presserved in a cool, dark and dry place. But I agree for things like tins it won't matter at all.

Can so relate to your situation. I’m 63 and recently had a small stroke which forced me to retire early. I just moved into a tiny apartment with my daughter that is $1000 cheaper than where we were. We have been here a week and I am in the crazy sorting of one box at a time. I wish you luck on your new journey and I think the country is the best decision. I wish I could be in the country and maybe someday I will be but everything happened so quickly and unexpectedly.

Food keeps longer in the dark. You have room for a shelf to the right of the sink, and could put plates on it, nice kitchen, bright and open, it will be nice cooking in it

Back problems are my thing too. Get yourself registered with the local GP and go see if they can refer you to a specialist, just in case. It's always good to get the ball rolling in advance of any possible major issues.

Hi Sean …I’ve been watching your channel for quite some time but never commented however it seems your move back to wales is a good one for you personally. It’s obviously going to take some getting used to again after all these years but I think you have made the right decision. I’m originally from south wales and made the mistake of moving to Cambridgeshire 20 years ago I hated it, it made me very ill emotionally and mentally and I couldn’t wait to come back home…we now live in Neath west glamorgan and certainly won’t be moving to England again. Just remember everything you enjoy doing from your allotment/gardening,cats,youtube channel,walks outdoors are all transferable you can do those things wherever you live and as a lot of jobs are now work at home based you could even find a job you like and do it from the comfort of your own home. You will be fine mentally and emotionally just give yourself the time to settle down…be happy you deserve it…now go look at those fabulous mountains🥰😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

At this time of year and in the UK, can't you use outside as a fridge? I spent a poverty-stricken winter in London in the 90s and when our fridge died and we couldn't afford a new one we just kept all the milk, eggs etc. on the windowsill.

I love a step saving galley kitchen. It is cold enough here today for some snow flurries. Nothing sticking to the ground mind you, but we do occasionally get a few inches here in Houston, Texas. I will be glad for the cold spell to pass on over and get back to my shorts. The grand-kittens take the place of sweatpants on frosty days like this. Amazing how much heat they produce.

Just a suggestion - if you put the dish drying rack on the left side of the sink on the metal bit it will channel water better and will effectively double your open useable counter space.

My nephew and his wife live in Pant, Merthyr, and the Brecon Beacons are only a few minutes away, beautiful scenery (I'm a coast/sea person myself but can appreciate how lovely the mountains are). Whilst it is cold you can keep milk without a fridge, just pop into a pan or bowl big enough to fill halfway up with cold water and then leave on your countertop out of sunlight.

I know most people online don't EVER show their block or their house front or number. Makes sense. Very smart these days. LOL. Your place looks wonderful and love the windows in the kitchen nook. Your kitties look to be ensuring everything new is well sniffed, and they see that some of home has moved with them so will meld in well, just don't let them outside yet they will get lost or try to 'go home'. Glad you have a gathering from the past to join in again - that is a great way to get back to the old life too, with all those contacts. I did the same in 2017, moved 4500km+ back home from one side of the country to the other, and had limited friends left after 35 years but I had siblings.

I have been living in a 5th wheel trailer and find I like cooking here I can get to everything with two steps. I watch the home remodel shows and think those people must like to go hiking they spread everything out so much. I do have to admit that I could use a bit more countertop space.

I'm sure you will settle in in your own time. I'm now binge-watching the Victorian flower garden which I have never seen before due to moving to the US in the mid-70s. I am absolutely loving the Victorian flower garden series thank you so much! I try to be an avid Gardener it's a bit difficult vegetable wise with our climate over here and various Garden Invaders IE raccoons squirrels rabbits et cetera but I am trying and having some success!
