I adopted a two year old Aussie from a breeder as well. She has all of the same anxieties and personalities as Indy. She had already had two litters when I took her. They did not like the colors she was throwing on her puppies so they sold her. She’s the best dog in the world for me.

What a sad and materialistic world we live in.. I still remember when my mom was getting our family dog as a puppy. The breeder one day called and said that “she didn’t know how to say it” (at this point my mom thought the dog was basically dead) “but the dog we were waiting for had lost the colour on the nose as she got closer to two months”. For the breeder this was such a horrible thing that she offered tho annulate the purchase of the dog. Just because the nose now had some pink/white and wasn’t all black.

My 12 year old Aussie has medical issues now but, has been the best, loving dog we have ever had. She is a full size and is very protective of us and became our social director n our new neighbour hood which is how we met our new neighbours. We have always said that when Shiraz passes, we will get a mini Aussie. Can’t imagine our lives without one. Because we are now in our seventies, our kids are concerned that our dog will outlive us. Not one in a million. I’ve had 5 Aussies and they were all extremely smart and loving. I only had one problem with jealousy. My girl is jealous of my time and attention, so when we got a new pup, even though the baby was properly submissive and did everything right making up to her, she wanted her gone, growled and hissed at her. I had to put her on her back and let her know I wouldn’t put up with that behavior. It took several months before she completely accepted baby and played with her, but at least she stopped that awful growling and hissing.

I am so excited. I am a bit allergic but i feel like with brushing everyday and maybe grooming with shorter haircuts, i live on the Oregon Coast, it doesnt get that cold really, ill be okay with my allergies, especially if i get as a puppy so my body can adjust. your vidoes are really what have hooked me onto these dogs, and i plan to watch as many videos and reearch a ton before putting down money, but i am so excited!! thank you for posting, i super appreciate it!!

Just an fyi: Australian shepherds are NOT size variable (standard says they come in one size and that size is not to be sacrificed for quality), BUT there is another breed that is stemmed from them using selective breeding called the Miniature American Shepherd. The difference between them is that Mini Aussies are not registered with the UKC, AKC, CKC, or other major dog clubs, and that MAS are generally better bred by reputable breeders than "Mini aussies" are. Here is a list of Canadian/USA ethical breeders I HIGHLY recommend if you are looking into getting one of these dogs: Bertrom's MAS Flying M MAS Dynasty Minis Cornerstone MAS Tanasi Bluff MAS Skidmore MAS Meadow Run MAS Flightsong Minis Casita MAS Hampton Hills MAS Mill Dam Creek MAS Exquisite Aussies Crimson's MAS Wigglebutt MAS Riverside MAS Sidekick MAS English Farm Kennels Epione MAS

Get your aussies with a tail!!! Many of their beautiful tails get docked for outdated reasons!
@shadominx36964 жыл бұрын
@@sindylouwho5781 pretty sure injury to a working breed's tail isn't outdated. You're the same person who would take a 6 month old puppy to a vet for pediatric spays/neuters. Odds are that same vet supports and performs declaws on cats, too.
@shadominx36964 жыл бұрын
@@sindylouwho5781 www.google.com/amp/s/allaboutaussies.wordpress.com/2008/08/15/why-are-aussie%25E2%2580%2599s-tails-docked/amp/ "As dogs assisted man in the field, herding or hunting, their tails could be a magnate for foxtails and a host of other burrs and stickers, which could cause trauma to the tail. Consequently, tail docking was implemented to avoid injury and infection. This is one of the reasons natural bobtails were valued and bred for." This isn't even going into discussion of injuries gained on the farm. Tails smashed, caught either by cattle, sheep, horses, other animals or equipment, bitten, trampled, etc. Many people get reputably bred dogs from ethical, reputable breeders. BYB's are generally the ones to leave tails intact as a marketing scheme. Tail injuries are one of the number one issues with working dogs. A breeder has zero way of knowing if a dog will end up going into a working home/environment until after the litters temperaments have been tested at 7 weeks of age. Pretty sure you whining about their tails being docked between 1-3 days old will be even worse for said puppy at 7 weeks old. ASCA has proven there is little to no pain and the muscles in the tail haven't fully formed yet at this age. Therefore... You're whining over something you have no idea about. In other breeds, such as Dobermans, where docking and cropping both ears and tails is required, it's done for a reason. These breeds are often plagued by chronic, nasty ear infections and tail injuries as, once again, these dogs are primarily a working breed. And often go into working homes. I would rather get a well bred puppy from a reputable breeder who docks and/or crops as per breed standard because they understand their fucking breed, than a BYB who markets to people like you who would turn around and spay or neuter a dog pediatrically before they've even finished maturing. Which, most breeds mature at 2 years old. That, or people like you generally declaw a cat because their precious furniture is being torn up, due to idiotic lazy morons refusing to take the time to train said cat to use scratching posts and trees. Either that, or the cat has nowhere else to scratch because the owner is a selfish asshole, so he's forced to do it on furniture. So, shove off with your whiny rhetoric about something you know nothing about. Your ignorance is showing. Ignorance isn't bliss in the animal world.

My dog absolutely gets jealous of my cat. I acquired my cat 3 years before my dog, which is weird. If I play with my cat my dog will whine and eventually come over and scare the cat away. She is never aggressive, just a big baby. It’s been almost 8 years and that hasn’t changed. Basically, I’m saying there is totally a such thing as jealous dogs lol because I live with one. Though I think this stems from how young she was when I got her. She is a personal rescue and was 3 weeks when I took her in. I weaned her myself and I think that’s where her childlike jealousy in the home comes from. She is only like this with the cat, my other fur kid lol

@@FrankieToTheMoon definitely jealousy. She did not react well to seeing him for the first time despite us trying to make the transition smoother. They get along perfectly now thankfully

okay so I got to play with her she was super high energy but she would sit with me in my arms it was soooo cute. I went to Petland and the cost was like 5000 dollars so my mom says we need to think about it more, if you have any question don't be scared to reply and ask! updating soon on what dog i get

@@Thecoolesttdy you should be able to find a breeder that sells Aussies for cheaper than $5000. I just got a pedigree standard Aussie and she was $1800. No reason why a pup should be that much 😅
@Thecoolesttdy4 жыл бұрын
@@JohanTemkinPB yeah you're right, she did come with insurance puppy for life guarantee crate supplements training for like food toys and basically everything you would need but it was still WAY to much. I'll try to find a different breeder.

Your aussies are just like ours, personality-wise but our blue Merle is the older dog. Our red-tri, Chestnut, is jealous and will often butt in for rubs if Willow is getting attention. 😆

We adopted a 6-month old Aussie last summer. We already have a mixed breed dog (we’re not sure but he probably has some boxer, Aussie, and husky in him). I’m not sure about jealousy but our older dog certainly becomes vocal and has to be involved if we’re playing with the Aussie (which is just fine because the only thing funner than playing with one dog is playing with two). I’m also not sure if the Aussie is just smart or if having an older dog around helps, but it’s been a lot easier to train the new Aussie than it was training the older dog. Both are super sweet and smart though and have grown inseparable. They’re sleeping next to each other as I write this.

so happy i found you guys we have a 5 year old girl aussie that reminds me of your indy and a 3 year old boy aussie who’s fun like franky. problem is both our aussies dog reactive especially our 3 year old boy who’s been kicked outta petsmart camp and turned down by another camp. he “hates” dogs - nipped 2 neighbors dogs! i don’t know what kind of trainer to hire for this. 🤷🏻♀️ and our 3 year old girl barks at everything - especially my husband. it’s very stressful here 🥲.

What you said about the jealousy of dogs is totally true because now that I think about it, my step dad’s German Shepard will get mad at my dog (mini ausie) if I’m petting them both at the same time. I’m realizing it’s BECAUSE I give the German Shepard so many dang treats and now I’m like 😂 man I knew she’d be using me all this time.
