I look forward to the instructional videos on the differences in the release. Due to a chronic rotator tear in my left shoulder I'm unable to release the club the way you & rotary swing teach. I just cant do it. I have to release with more of a body release like Cameron!

Hi James, thanks for the comment. Using the body is just fine, it’s just how you do it and how to balance your delivery properly. Some people just need to use body turn and wrist extension as their means of speed and squaring of the face. This is something we recognize here MyGolfDNA. I will be discussing more on this later in the week. You don’t have to be held to one style of release. The way you deliver it, is based on the criteria/variables that YOU bring to the table.

Is pressure being applied to the shaft (with right hand) at impact or has the release already begun (where the clubhead is starting to overtake the butt of the club)? I guess my question is more about compression...is it created by force on the shaft or is it created more by the release? Makes sense to keep pressure on the shaft but not sure if that would cause too many blocks to the right.

Hi Jason, this is a really great question and is going to yield a pretty subjective response from my side. We've heard for years about "lag pressure" as well as "shaft pressure" but we've seen many guys like Phil, Freddie and Vijay with their trail hands coming off the club at impact. Which some would say there is no pressure being applied by the trail hand. Compression is being created by the downward force from the club into the golf ball, which doesn't require you to have downward pressure from the trail side to achieve. I personally use pressure to help keep the clubface from shutting down too quickly. This is solely from the club coming a bit too far from the inside and the AOA being being a touch too shallow. So, it's a case by case situation really. Hope that helps.

Great to see the individual acknowledged. What drives’s how a person releases the club? Is it how you use your leg’s, body type and dimensions, flexibility, all of the above?

@@daviddonofrio3229 it’s so funny how the subconscious works! I hit about 500 balls over the last 2 days with a VERY weak grip, in small swing format. I tried to hit every ball solid and straight. At 104 balls into the practice, I started to figure out how to do it with this “crazy feeling grip”. I was not consistent by any means. But what I realized is…my body started to wake up more to help the clubface, I started using my legs and hips more to help square the face and feel more speed. The subconscious is a powerful being. My point is… the connection point to the club is very important, but it’s more important to learn how to transfer energy out through that connection point as fast as possible and then balance it all out with control. Hope you’re great David. Always enjoyed working with you in the past.
