As a fellow SuperSport 950s owner over here in CA, it's been so fun to watch your videos. The smooth and linear power band is from the L-twin and I agree it's amazing. The amazing sound... and clutch... and quick shifter... and suspension... and brakes... and engine braking... the styling! I constantly get stares, questions, and compliments haha! It's so amazing. However, you are completely right, the mirrors are trash :D. And if you are in traffic a lot or start and stop a lot, the heat can be really bad. You need to be comfortable lane-splitting here. (Not sure how legal it is in Japan or even possible where you commute??? And not great to do daily.) When it gets REALLY hot in CA 110+ F, even on the highway I need to go at very illegal speeds to keep it cool. On normal days it's great (I have a reverse commute here in CA so it's perfect for me.) It's also great for riding down to Santa Cruz or Monterey or up and down the coast. :) I also have some comfort issues in certain situations though. Mine is paid off so I will probably keep it for life... but... I am looking at a second bike as a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom for something more relaxed. I totally agree with EVERYTHING you said, and totally understand. Excited to see more from you on other bikes. Love the relaxing and informative commentary!

I'm considering getting one. I owned a lot of 600 class sport bikes when I was younger. I went to CBR Fireblade and it was too much for how I wanted to ride. I've spent the last few years on supermotos. I love them, but I want something that doesn't struggle at highway speeds. From everything I have found, the 950ss I supposed to be much more comfortable than the more track oriented sport bikes. I think my only reservation trying it would be that I don't think it'll be reasonably comfortable for a passenger.

If you can somehow craft a foam cradle of sorts, then the mirror won’t vibrate as much… I stuffed 8-9 Pelican pick-n-pluck foam strips behind my rs660’s mirrors, and it solved the vibration problem very effectively.

I own the previous gen (939 SuperSport S in matt grey) and I’m so in love with it I’ll definitely move on to the 950S when the time comes. It might not be the most beautiful, the most brutal sport bike in the market but it gives a sense of intimacy. I currently have three bikes in total but I feel best connected with the SS.

I have a 2023 SS standard-no track so fine without Olins- and I'm only 137lbs. I love the bike for all the reasons you mention. Like others, the heat can be annoying, but I don't commute and know to do what I can to avoid stop and go traffic. My only gripe is the weight. I do like the traditional trellis frame aesthetic, but I don't think I would mind if they went to the aluminum Monster frame and lost the weight. Other than that, it is, as you say, the dream bike for looks and street performance. Thanks for your videos- well done!

I am kind of thinking about going the opposite way and exchanging my RSV4 for this Duc. The RSV4 is awesome in the twisties and even more in a straight line, but I am slowly coming to the realization that I would probably have as much fun on this Duc as I do on my Ape in the twisties and wouldn't bet my driver's licence and possibly my life every time the road straightened out, not to mention not having to deal with the aggressive ergonomics. And if you thought this Duc gets hot in stop-and-go traffic, try Aprilia's V4. It's maybe not as bad since Aprilia's V4 is 65° instead of 90°, but the coolant temp rises over 100°C pretty easily every time you stop for more than a couple of seconds and sometimes stays pretty high even during street riding on hot days. Plus, I just love single-sided swingarms. Anyway, appreciate the honesty in the opinions presented. It might not be the best bike for commuting, but it's pretty high up there when it comes to general usability during street rides and some light touring l.

Im in start and stop traffic but the heat never really a problem with temps around 36C. I find it unusal people pick on that one point alot. I found the clutch worse being on the heavy side and the engine snatchy at low revs. Have to constantly feather the clutch to smooth out ride. And that makes for a not so nice experience in traffic. Leave the city and all is forgiven.

I can feel the heat even in single digit temperatures. BUT, if you are always in low traffic situations, go for it. Keep it over 60 and you will be fine. And yes, don't get the Multi, Supersport looks and feels way better, comes with better suspension on the S version too.

Well since you mentioned naked bikes, why not try the monster instead of the Supersport? It is lighter and more flick-able. Heat should be better too due to better airflow without the fairing. Personally not a fan of the Streetfighter, so in the end do some test rides and see what you really prefer. MT09 seating position is really unique, rode it a few times and liked it pretty much. Also might want to consider KTM’s Duke 890.

I find that 99% of the litre bikes or race style bikes lose favor with people after a while, so uncomfortable and unusable on the street. I wish people would pay more attention to refinement, handling and suspension vs just horse power. I own a Hyper 950SP and a Desert X with this same engine. I also own a Pikes Peak and a 1290 Super Duke and I can tell you that never have I wished that my SP or DX had more power. The Hyper always surprises me and in corners it is unbeatable. I have ridden the 950S and I really liked it, so much more streetable vs a V2 Pannigale or Street fighter. I am actually thinking about selling my Super Duke for a 950S. Yes the SD is much faster but there is something unique about the 950S that makes it enjoyable. The SD is a monster and one of the best bikes I have ever owned but it is simply too much power for the street. My only complaint about the 950S is that they sell it as a sport tourer but with no gas gauge and no cruise control......that blows!
