Thanks for the great review. I am considering buying a 2024 Discover, I'll have to give it a much closer look. THe wooden floor and re-sealing the roof are a bit concerning for me.

If you are not using the tip outs then you overpaid for what is essentially a cargo trailer with a kitchen. The tip outs in my opinion are the only reason to buy one of these.
@TheAndersenAdventuresАй бұрын
@NMLife22 The plan is to use then eventually and build out hard sides. We do use the tip outs in the Summer as porches and it's nice. The full aluminum cage, the fact the kitchen was already built, an AC unit, a fan.. were also big reasons for choosing the trailer we did. We have a cargo trailer as well, and I can tell you the cargo trailer would not have endured full time living for this long. We didn't buy the trailer expecting to not use the tip outs, but we quickly found out how important security/temp regulation is and decided against them. Still love it, still live in it.
@NMLife22Ай бұрын
@@TheAndersenAdventures with the tip outs open is it not able to maintain temp? Heating and cooling?
@TheAndersenAdventuresАй бұрын
@NMLife22 Not in extreme weather for long. A weekend of camping is tolerable, but living full time isn't. In 100F+ degree weather, the AC running on high it only cools to about 80 with tipouts open, Which is okay. In weather where it's below freezing for any length of time, we would have frost on the tent beds on the inside. The heat strip is a joke, so we used a ceramic plug in heater when plugged in. To be honest, we've never used the wood stove with the tent beds so I can't speak for that. The biggest battle has been moisture and privacy. Again, we are full time in it. For a weekend of camping I think it's great.

Intech should sponsor you. Your videos were the selling point for us to buy our discover. We aren’t living in it, but also don’t use it as a toy hauler. We use the tip outs for nice weather and have a trifold mattress with foldable bed frame for winter camping. Possibly would have held off for the forge as well, but also didn’t want a backwater tank. Want the lighter weight. Shorter length. I love all of the modifications you’ve done and grateful that you share your experience so we can learn from you and see some of these things applied in a full time living situation. Can’t wait to see your hard sided tip outs. We are currently installing the popup gizmo insulated tip out. Using a compostable toilet and joolca hot water heater for shower. Would you mind sharing your recirculating plan? Thank you for your videos. Again, Intech should be looking at these videos as an honest selling point for their products…maybe they can loan you the cargo trailer your looking into 😊

Thank you for your kind words, Linda! I am glad we could help you make a decision on your Discover purchase. I really need to do a full video on the shower set up - it is in the works, I promise! We held off on doing one initially to make sure we worked the kinks out. After a full 7 months of use, I think we got it down. :) How do you like a composting toilet for camping? I love our cassette toilet, but sometimes think the compost toilet could be a good option once ours is beyond what we are willing to repair. Haha. Also, we would love to be an ambassador or sponsored by Intech! They do make cargo trailers, so that would be very convenient! ;)
@linda7872 Жыл бұрын
@@TheAndersenAdventures LOVE the composting toilet. After much research, we decided on the trelino. There are a couple thorough review videos on it, but we love the simplicity of it. It works great and easy to clean without being gross. There are definitely some more hands off options available that we looked at but were twice the cost, required power and more than we needed when we plan to just be out a week or two at a time. We actually just watched another of your videos last night…you might like the joolca water heater for dishes. We use that with the same 15 gallon water tank you are using for fresh water when a stream isn’t available. Keep up the videos..definitely influencing and inspiring to people. We have forwarded them to everyone we tell about our camper. Trying to talk my husband into the cubic mini installation (regardless of how unnecessary this is for us) 😊

Great video! We have a 23 Discover I'm about ready to move in with my family. So I love the info. Been using ours regularly and every trip seems to lead to a modification. Unfortunately we were not aware of the forge coming out either. We had the rear door water leak issue and very interested in your solution you found. Is it possible to buy a set? We are heading to the Northwest soon. I'd love to see a video of stops to make.

That's awesome that you're moving into your Discover! It's definitely an adjustment but we love it. Modifications are endless lol. Does your 23 have the little lip over the rear door? I'm surprised you're still having issues if so! That's good to know. We can finalize our replacement pads and post it to our website here soon. It just hasn't been a priority 😆 I'll see about making a video on places to stop - truthfully we haven't been doing much in the way of traveling these days but I might be able to throw something together. Happy travels!!

There is another more important question. I have the latest Ford bronco 4x4 four-door off-road vehicle. The towing capacity is 3500 pounds and the tongue is 350 pounds. Judging from the parameters found, it can be towed under dry weight, but The tongue parameter of the Trailer is 520 pounds. I was worried about this, so I found some articles on the Internet, saying that if the tongue is overloaded, it will not damage the front car, but may cause some instability. The internal structure is not suitable for installing Weight Distribution Hitch (it is said that it can keep the front car and the rear car relatively level to improve stability), so I would like to hear more about your professional opinions on this, thank you!
@TheAndersenAdventures8 ай бұрын
Hello! If your towing capacity on your Bronco is 3500 lbs I would not recommend towing the Discover with it. You'll quickly surpass that. Ideally you don't want to exceed 75% of the tow capacity of your vehicle. The tongue weight alone on the Discover is way more than your vehicle is safely rated for. I'd upgrade tow vehicles. Happy camping! :)

1. I bought a 2023 brand new Discovery from a private person. He got it from an auction. The price is 22.5K. Do you think it is a good deal? 2. The 2024 model adds a gas furnace, which seems to be able to provide energy for the refrigerator and air conditioner, thus saving electricity as much as possible. My solution was to buy a dual fuel generator to keep it going, what are your suggestions for adding batteries? I see you also have a generator but don't use it very often do you? 3. My usage scenario is mainly to take my 5-year-old son with an ATV and motorcycle for a weekend. I will not live on it for a long time. Unfortunately, I learned that its floor is not waterproof. I originally wanted to Use water to rinse away mud and dust from toys. 4. Is it recommended to find a fixed ladder on the market and install it on the side to make it easier to go up to the roof to view the scenery or clean the solar energy? Since I don't know English, I wrote these messages using Google Translate, I hope it doesn't bother you.
@TheAndersenAdventures8 ай бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to translate and comment! Hopefully, my answers make sense. :) $22.5k USD seems like a good deal for brand new. We have a dual fuel generator and jt is great for running AC and charging batteries. We currently have 300 amp hours of lithium batteries. Floors are not waterproof entirely, which is a downside but they are still easy to clean and can tolerate some moisture as long as it gets dried quickly. We do not have a fixed ladder, we have a telescoping ladder that we can move around the trailer for access to all portions. The roof is not built entirely to walk on so you must be careful when on it.

It gets tiring after a while moving this here and that there to do this and then that 🥺 Hardsides for the tipouts is the best move IMHO. I had a Hybrid camper with those and did not like the lack of security with the two small girls at the time. Same with the PUP camper. I was going to convert my enclose cargo but the wife not liking the idea so maybe something like this🤔 Best wishes

We're looking at possibly purchasing an InTech Flyer Discover, 2023 or 2024 model. I understand you've modified your Flyer Discover a lot so you can live it in full time, however, just wondering if you used the tip-out bed(s) at all and how do they hold up in bad weather (rain/wind, etc.)?
@TheAndersenAdventures10 ай бұрын
We did use the tip-outs full time for several months, they held up as intended in high winds and heavy rain. They don't leak or have issues staying together but, for full time use they make it difficult to regulate temperature and humidity so we decided to remove them.

Time to update to a Flyer Forge🤷🏻♂️
@TheAndersenAdventures8 ай бұрын
We're still happy with the Discover. The Forge is neat BUT it's not much of an "upgrade" considering it wouldn't provide much more space and we'd have to spend a lot of time setting it up to be as good as what we have now for full time living, plus the disadvantage of more weght and less ability to tow through severe terrain. We did just purchase a cargo trailer for all four of our dirt bikes, tools and gear. It's nice having a "garage" so we don't have to track mud inside the Discover. There's still so much we can improve on with our current setup like hard sided tipouts and an additional hard sided ramp door room, all of which will double the interior space of our current trailer while retaining the same physical size while in transit.

Hi can you tow a 300 lb boat with this trailer?
@TheAndersenAdventures3 ай бұрын
@hellapellanyc6465 I wouldn't unless you reinforce the frame where the hitch is installed. Depending on the year you buy, the hitch is only rated for 175lbs or 200lb capacity. We used a cargo rack on the back before but not exceeding 100lb total.
@hellapellanyc64653 ай бұрын
@@TheAndersenAdventures Wouldnt 200 lb hitch weight equal 2000lb tow weight?
@TheAndersenAdventures3 ай бұрын
@@hellapellanyc6465 No, the weight rating from Intech on this is not based on “tongue weight” like a regular receiver hitch on a vehicle. This is very much a “do not exceed 200lbs at all” receiver. It is intended for a small bicycle rack or cargo rack and not really intended for towing.

Ridiculous that you aren't using those killer pop out bunks. I have owned many tent trailers and a hybrid with the same bunk situation and have never had an issue or felt unsafe sleeping in them.
@TheAndersenAdventures3 ай бұрын
@championhairpuller Maybe you missed it, but we LIVE in this trailer full time including winters and summers. Between temperature/moisture control and also sometimes camping in bear country, we opted to not utilize the tents. I'm glad you've had no issues with yours! We would love to use ours but it just is too difficult to keep the inside of the trailer warm/cool and dry and peace of mind that nothing (or no one) can get in (easily) while we are gone is more important than the extra room. We plan on building some hard sides one of these days soon so we can use the trailer to the fullest extent again. :)
