Happy KZbin anniversary buddy! Definitely a long journey and tough one, but I think it’s worth it to start 😁 closing in to the 1000 subs too! I do agree with the 10-20% of subscribers only really watch the videos consistently, I have the same stats roughly. Self editing is a great skill to be honest 😂 feels more natural and authentic that everything appeared in “one take”. Great share on your approach to making the videos. The best part about it is that you enjoy making the videos. We have different workflows, but what matters is what works with each of us 😁 hope you have even more success the next year, Keith!

Thanks Keith, mabey Self-editing is my secret superpower lol, Nobody ever said KZbin was easy, that's why only 8% of KZbinrs reach that elusive 1000 Subscribers! I will be with you one day :-)

Keith, a personal congratulations on getting close to a personal goal of views and subscribers. Also, I am sure talking about how you go about your thought processes was a good idea. As for me, I am one who would rather be behind the camera than in front. So, in some ways, you are helping me and others push themselves forward Thank you.

Thanks Jeff, you just have to get out there for every one to judge and then forget about it 😂

Full respect to you Keith. Really down to earth & honest chat giving an insight to difficulties that others wouldn’t understand. Your doing great & the main thing as you said, is enjoying what you do mate. My say it as it is doesn’t win me any prizes, but I don’t mind that as I’d sooner be straight talking & my videos are planned around the location with no script other than that , plus the topic we mull over and ad-lib as we go. Keep up the good work mate & let me know if you ever do get up to North Wales 👌👍
@keithguppy6 ай бұрын
Thanks Mark, the best way is as-lib I think, more natural and you know it’s coming from a place of honesty. I will definitely let you know mate, we could do a collaboration.

Keith, congrats on almost hitting 1K, I'm sure you'll cross that number very soon. I'm much like you, I just blabber on. Keep thinking I need to script my videos, and I do somewhat, in my head, but sometimes I don't even know what I'm doing beforehand. Keep doing it your way.

Thanks Craig, at the end of the day, we are still producing good content no matter how we film it , it's the final product that matters, no matter how long it takes up lol

Hi Keith hope you're well, thanks for sharing this. One thing I've found over the years I've been on KZbin is not to get wrapped up in subs and views, it can be a long road to a 1000 subs. I stopped watching the bigger KZbin photo/ video channels as most of them are pro or semi pro photographers/videographers so are able to spend more time than me taking photos etc. Photography/videography is just a hobby for me so i have very limited time to indulge myself, working 5 days a week (sometimes more) leaves me 2 day but in reality its only 1 day which is normally a Sunday. I struggle to find ideas for a video and then work out how to put it together, also living in a larger town does require a fair amount of travelling to find locations I've not been to. For me KZbin is just a bit of fun, one day I may hit a 1000 subs, but I think it's a long time away. When I started my youtube channel it was just a bit of fun, i hope people watching my videos find some enjoyment from them but I make them for my own enjoyment primarily. Keep what you're doing Keith as its always interesting. Best wishes stay safe Jon and Karen

Hi Jon, hope you are both well, Good to know I am not alone, i definitely haven’t been too bothered about the subs and views, but I do wonder if I put more into it I would get more subs and views, but at what cost. I’ll keep enjoying what I do rather than it be a “job”. I think my journey to 1k has been greatly accelerated by macro, which I am not happy about because I didn’t want to have a macro channel, I wanted to be outdoors and macro would be a small part of that. I would say over 3/4 of my subs are from macro. Without them I would probably only be on about 300, don’t get me wrong I’m grateful for the subs, but it feels like I cheated a little.

Hi Keith. Thanks for sharing. I can totally get what you’re saying. I self edit as well. If I make a mistake half way through. I take a pause they say take 2 then start again. Sometimes it’s take 7 or 8 lol. I just enjoy getting out (which I not done in a few weeks) and making video and yes like you I do think more about my photos now then I did a few. years ago. Again thanks for the share and keep well mate. Shawn.

Hi Shawn, It is fun self editing, the amount of outtakes we must generate lol.

Really good honest video mate... I agree with how you edit your videos, I try and do that "pro" approach myself at times, where I can just edit bits in... But more often than not, I'll just record a whole section in one go, if I make a mistake I'll restart from the beginning.

Thankfully I don't seem to be the only one who self edits, I thought I was just doing it wrong, maybe this is the way to do it lol
