I recently built a camera rig by adding a top handle, side handle, field monitor and power bank to my camera. For video especially, the top handle allows you to walk around with the camera at knee-height. The field monitor allows you to comfortably view your framing from all angles. The weight of it all removes any micro-jitters from your video, acting like a gimbal. It gives you that low perspective you are talking about that would be very awkward to achieve in video without the rig.

The best part is not having to keep changing batteries in my Canon M50 because of the power bank. The power bank also runs the copper macro field-light that I built, containing 1600 LEDs.

Awesome, I used to use a rig like this, now I tend to use the DJI ronan s with my mk4 for my creative shots. Much easier, then I have the c300 mk2 on a tripod for the rest

Ya, I want to get a DJI Neo and start making videos myself, so I can show people the continuous macro lighting that I have designed and fabricated. @@keithguppy

5:55 Would it be a bit more precise to just use a tripod and manually focusing through the range? I built a focus slider concept that is frictionless, using magnets. The camera actually levitates.

Absolutely, but the place I was in I didn’t want to submerge my tripod into deep mud , I wasn’t that invested in the shot lol

Hi Keith. Great video mate. I used to make the mistake taking photos, just stand point and shoot. Definitely make better images getting lower. Take care mate. Shawn.

Hi Keith hope you're well. Great video as always, definitely looked like a difficult place to visit. To be honest I was guilty of just standing and pointing the camera, but I do now try to look at different perspectives (if I remember) what I tend to forget is to make sure the camera batteries are charged. Great set of images showing how the perspective can change the image. That hornet looked a bit nasty I don't blame you for making a quick exit. Best wishes stay safe Jon and Karen

Hi Jon, hope you are both well. It always makes a better photo when the batteries are charged that for sure lol.

Good advice Keith.👌 I do more quite a lot from a below waist height point of view as & when I can….gets harder to get back up as you get older though lol 😂. Cracking duck images mate 👌👍

Nobody likes a smart hornet. I believe that most people photograph from a standing position because that’s how we see things on a daily basis while walking around, changing shooting positions definitely gives me a different perspective when shooting iguanas from a low angle, or from the hip when doing street “stuff”. Be well.

I agree, I think that’s the problem, all the photos have the same feel to them, I tend to go for the lower down shot for a lot of my photos, I don’t it looks pleasing to the eye. It’s an especially good tip for iguana photography lol
