Nice video, being an F5 user myself I agree with all your points on this super flexible and ultra reliable powerhouse - Truly it is the only camera you need for film and fantastic value. Add to this the possibility to use 'modern' lenses (with VR even) and the only negative is the weight - tip for this use lithium batteries (much lighter than alkaline) to shave some weight off.

Thank you for the lovely comment, the F5 is a wonderful camera and while more bulky than others, it certainly makes up for it with the results on the negative. I've used modern lenses from 24mm all the way to a 600 F4 on the F5 and it's never missed a beat!!

I moved from full frame Nikon to micro 4/3rds but will never get rid of my F5. I just love it and shoot mainly black and white. I have 3 lens I use with it -20mm f1.8, 50mm f1.4 and 180mm f2.8. This provides, for me, the best options for what I shoot. I use rechargeable batteries and they seem to last for ever. Yes, it’s heavy but so well balanced even with the 180mm f2.8 attached.

That sounds like a wonderful setup! I used to use rechargables and they lasted so long until the batteries died - but I thought the performance/battery life with normal alkaline batteries was very good indeed. I used mosting a 50mm with the occasional 24mm and it was an amazing set-up for anything I needed - much like yours

Does f6 have any advantage over f5?
@SebastianOakley2 ай бұрын
It's certainly smaller, I've never used one myself but I would say yes as it is the VERY last SLR Nikon made - it's basically like a D850 but it shoots film!

F6 has 11 AF points, databack functions, removable HS battery pack and has faster AF if you really need it for film shooting. I have an F5 and an F6, I love both but the F6 is definitely the smoother more refined camera. It just sounds and feels amazing.

Don’t forget about the Nikon F6. Most people do.

I know the F6 is completely outstanding!! But sadly it's way beyond my budget!!

Too heavy for me. I have the F100 which is 90% ish the same as the F5 but lighter. I do have the add-on battery pack for the (very) rare occasion I need the extra capacity. The one thing I miss with the F100 over the F5 is the ability to leave some film leader sticking out of the film cartridge after rewinding.

Yes it is rather a lump to carry around, but excellent!
