its been speculated that the Ravenclaw common room knocker riddles were actually intended to be a test by Rowena herself who believed that those worthy of studying under her could solve the riddle provided. The Ravenclaw thing is intentional. They figured that, if you’re smart enough to solve the riddle, you’re welcome in the Ravenclaw common room. Sometimes, the riddle is unusually difficult, so many Ravenclaws would get stuck and wait for someone else to help them get in. That forces them to interact with their peers a little bit, which many students, specially in Ravenclaw, may need.

Because fathoms exist purely to be a measurement of depth, it would be improper to use anything else. For those wondering, one fathom has since been standardized to six feet, where before it was the distance between your fingertips when your arms were stretched out to opposite sides. This way, sailors and fisherman could measure depth in feet using a rope. Pulling the rope until your arms were totally apart equaled about six feet; repeat until out of rope. There’s your depth. :) It’s true that measurements of distance can be used vertically, but a specific unit for altitude doesn’t exist, though it’s commonly measured in feet.

Steven Manbeck Umm, Actually, Wario has never had any confirmed relationship to Mario or Luigi in the games, other than as an enemy, with the exception of in ‘Super Mario 64 DS’ where he classed as Mario’s friend, as Peach invited Mario’s friends, also. The ‘old friend’ interpretation comes from the ‘Super Mario Adventures’ comic book, where it was revealed that Mario and Wario were friends as children, though whether it’s canon or not is up to debate, but it is considered non-canon.
