Please check out that guys Google reviews for his business. Every honest review is a horror story about charging people hundreds of dollars for misdiagnosis and repairs at 3x dealer prices and threating customers about negatively reviewing him. If I was sparks i woukd try to distance myself from this guy.

Is distributor knowledge really that rare these days? Watching this guy try to set timing is giving me a twitch.
@jamestsmith4500
@jamestsmith4500 3 ай бұрын
@@Demonphoto Distributor knowledge is rare with the students graduating from technical schools today because the engines today don't have distributors. When the engine manufacturers went to computers operating the engines along with stricter emissions, they did away with distributors. I got my automotive degree back during the late 70's with distributor and carburetor type engines. When they changed to fuel injection the computer age started. You had to have been trained on distributor engines to really know how to install or correct an improperly installed distributor. Refreshing my degree 20 years later showed me how technology has changed and when a distributor engine came in, I was chosen to instruct the class on distributor mechanics because even the instructor was rusty. believe it or not, real talk..

Love those Toyota FJ’s. Had a ‘72 with a sbc 283ci in it. Those are 10 times the vehicle as a Jeep and would go through the mud better because both pumpkins on the front and rear ends were lined up unlike a Jeep whose were offset. Meaning on a Jeep you were pushing 2 pumpkins through the mud but on a FJ the front pumpkin pushed the mud out of the way for the rear one.

Two things I check and frequently end up replacing in Small block Chevies. They are the oil pump and the timing chain and gear set. Both are prone to failure on a old engine. The stock timing chain set often has nyon teeth that strip and cause a timing jump. If he is going to have to replace the timing cover to get a timing mark then inspect and replace timing chain and gear set while cover is off if necessary. This might be the cause of the original timing problem. The old oil pumps are just not up to the job if a kid puts his foot into it. Just from 60 years of experience with SB Chevs.
