about the wolverine boat: The Wagemaker Company began building Wolverine boats in 1932. Those early cedar strip boats were first nationally advertised in 1933 and gained instant popularity. At some point during world war II, they sold the technology to the US Government for use in PT boat hulls from 1942 thru 1945.

I worked on MANY of these ROWPU while in the army. You should be able to see if you are missing anything by looking through the TM manual. You may want to do a full layout. The wiring schematics on that thing are crazy. You will definitely need a pro to troubleshoot any electrical issues you come across. They are easy to operate though. The military breaks it down Barney style in crayon in the TM and most army equipment has instructions right on the equipment.

BTW the army MOS that operated and repaired these was a 63J or 91J now. The official title is QUARTERMASTER AND CHEMICAL EQUIPMENT REPAIRER. Best of luck. Get plenty of filters as backup. Any questions just ask your local grease monkey down in the mopo most of em would “love” to do another quarterly/semi annual/annual PMCS. Tell em you need help with a -10 level pmcs and then you need a -20/-30 level pmcs. They will help you with the -20/-30 but the -10 pmcs is on you….(PMCS = PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS and SERVICES. Found in the field Manuel.)

Not till you realize the amount of work involved for just running that said unit. One of the sites I worked in AF had three of those units just to make water useable not drinkable. When the base well went dry they had to pull from the river. It took 12 people to run those units 24/7 and between the generators acting the fool, the filtration unit and chemicals were a nightmare. In all honesty having a modern RO unit is more economical and cheaper to run even off of generation power.

@@fredericksweetliterally what I was about to say basically anything in the military that isn’t directly used to kill people like fighter jets, choppers, and certain weapon systems is generally an utter piece of shit or if it’s not the cost to run and maintain is way too high unless you’re the military with almost unlimited access to fuel and materials the logistics it takes to keep all this garbage equipment running is ridiculous the civilian side shit is almost always better cause they generally make things that work with low maintenance the military literally thinks opposite they cut corners, use the lowest bidder, and ensure shit is easy to repair cause they know, expect and probably plan on the shit breaking learned this from my time in the army I get out in October thank fuck

He had some other stuff though like those water tanks and some other things that could help. I told Roman Sharf, the other KZbinr watch guy, about this stuff because he has a charity that helps Ukraine, hurricane Idalia victims and now Hawaii. I figured he could work out a deal to maybe get some supplies or equipment they had like the generator sets maybe and ship them over. But now seeing this, maybe it's better they didn't do that. Plus, they are all about helping out the kids and not really doing community relief. I also don't know if it's just a scam. Some people have said that Roman only does things that make him look good and doesn't follow through on what he says he will. I don't know the guy, but I know Dave had the stuff and figured they could get in touch and work something out but I doubt he took my suggestion seriously. Maybe that's for the better.

Hey guys. I got a little tip for you on the placements of those straps. When the corners are like on this load, you give the connecting end of the strap a half turn before you hook it up. This prevents flapping in the breeze and wearing out the corners up top and breaking the strap. Hope this help. from an old truck driver. :)

Your friend "@Ghost Town Living" could really use that old CAT loader, since his road keeps washing out. I suggested he use a method, to retain more of his road base, that consists of using old tires bolted together and then filled with substrate. Maybe you could give him all your unwanted tires? It's about the cheapest way to help shore up his road. In addition, those CAT loaders can have a plow put on the front quite easily, for winter snow clearing.

I installed a Spectra Reverse Osmosis watermaker on my sailboat about ten years ago. Yes, it was able to purify ocean water into drinkable water. That system was right around $6k but there are dozens of other companies out there like CruiseRO and Rainman that make RO water filtration systems for yachts. The key to RO is the membrane. That RO system that HDS bought is similar to what you'd see on tiny atolls in the S. Pacific, Indian Ocean or even the Bahamas. My biggest concern with this one is weather or not the membranes were properly pickled prior to putting the unit in storage. If not, the membranes could be damaged and/or unusable. That's were I'd start, confirming the membranes have been preserved. It's not the end of the world since they can be replaced.

I saw the trailer in the scrap pile and was like “I would like that trailer” then you said they are there for a reason and I went “ahhh nvm, I’ll pass”

You're spot on about that trailer. Reverse osmosis is the process boats use for their 'water makers' which is a *very* scaled down principle of that trailer.

On that water purifier. It should have a NSN that you can look up. Possibly find a manual. Also it has DRMO (Defense Reutilization Marketing Office) on the front. Meaning it was sold bc it was not working or had no more use.

i hauled one from a company in Colorado Springs to a power plant in Wyoming. Their filter system in the power plant was down, and they needed to have 100% pure h20 being made into steam for the turbines to make power. Yeah i am sure it could desalinate sea water, but i would think the filters would have to be replaced often during the process.
