While not to diminish the pilots' amazing work, these passengers are amazing for what they did. Plane safety procedures are so precise so there isn't much room to do anything else. They disregarded it all and put their lives at risk to try and save another person's life. Beautiful souls.

Also when security is secured, know we are trained to find willing and able passengers to help people who need the help. That’s the next step after safety. So everything happened accordingly and fortunately to what they were trained for and with amazing able passengers they did what they could do. It’s the rawest moments of life but that’s when all of the sudden everything else in the world doesn’t matter but team work.

Mark Rampersad- Yeah, you have a point. The point I was making was that planes tend to work almost flawlessly, and major accidents like this one cannot be attributed to a poorly designed or built plane. Maintenance is more likely to blame, and as you pointed out- Southwest has a poor record.

@alexb43124 жыл бұрын
Yes, we are taught. However we are not professional medics. In almost all accounts of medical emergencies we ask of there is a qualified medic on board. During that time, in this instance the crew would have had to prepare for emergency landing, do a cabin secure, update the captain on the structure if the plane etc, in a short space of time, keep in mind the flight deck need to do serious focus also cabin crew are human beings that cope with so much stress at times, so when we ask for help, it really means we need it, not because we can't do it.

I don't think they trained for that But they definitely trained in case of a ditching (water emergency by the way pretty rare pilots say they tend to avoid water landings at all costs and it's not the same as land) They can also deliver babies on board (Yes incident like this actually happened but don't worry they're rare too) They're awesome trained in CPR and medical emergencies They're not medical professionals though but they do know some medical skills Enough to even save a life so if you get on a plane Don't you worry because the flight attendants got your back unless you're actually told the scary words okay if I can't open this door you will open this emergency door Then it's actually time To listen to them As when you you're the scary words a lot of responsibility is on your shoulders But just keep in mind They are not waitresses in the sky They're there for your safety and as you might not like reclining your seat just keep in mind in case of an emergency A requined seat can stop the person behind you to get into the into a special position which requires you to lean back and put your hands on your head Also in case of turbulence (don't worry nothing to be afraid of but in which case your head will travel further and and faster and they could be a more painful than it usually is Also if you're going on board a plane Every time the flight attendant tells you hi just say hi back Anyways that's all I know or something yeah bye

People would ask: Why does God make suffering? But He doesn't. Adam and Eve ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil because they wanted to be their own God. So do we. We go about our lives in rebellion against God. Look at our world. The beauty. And the overwhelming suffering. It's due to our free will being used to rebel against God. Sin, death, suffering, and illness entered our world. Since we try to be God, our world is messed up and fallen. We trivialize lies, hate(considered murder with the heart in God's eyes) and all our other sins. But, God still loves us, so he made a way for us to be reconciled to Him. If we would just turn and give ourselves to Jesus, we would receive the Holy Spirit that would lead us to want to do good and not run to sin anymore. It'll break the desire for rebellion. Jesus suffered for our sins and offers our debt completely paid through Him, if we would just humble ourselves and agree that us rebelling is wrong. If we don't, we continue to cause suffering and will be given justice for every sin on judgement day. Eternal punishment is terrifying, yet we chose it. We must repent(agree with God that sin is wrong and turn from our sins) and have faith in Jesus.

You know you're truly saved if you're born again. Imagine a pen moving one way. That's us. Sinners prone to sin who have to put pressure on ourselves to go the other way and do what God wants. But we bounce right back when the pressure we apply is less. But, when born again, the pen goes the other way and the default is good. Having to put pressure on ourselves to go the other way again. "I'm not gonna forgive. Im not gonna help that person". Only to bounce right back because of the holy spirit's guidance. That is truly being born again. Youll know you belong to God. Planes are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much safer then cars and bikes. Your chance of dying in a plane crash is 1/11 million. And also, look at how many times there was an uncontained engine failure, almost never. All twin engine planes must be able to take off with only 1 engine, and they can! So you should truely feel extremely safe on a plane, and not safe in your car or boat

Not ourselves

If you have ever done compressions, you would know that you tire after a while. We switch off after 2 rounds of 30 compressions. If someone is fatigued during compressions, they will not compress at the kind of frequency and depth needed to resuscitate. If someone else around is trained in cpr it’s a very smart idea to utilize that. In fact, I’m blown away that she thought of it in a high stress situation like that. If she did not perform cpr herself and just called out for someone else to do it, that is another thing entirely..

Airline VERY rarely plays a role in crashes. Southwest uses the 737, which Delta uses frequently, along with many other airlines like UA, AA, And almost every major carrier . Only way an airline could be involved is if it's a maintenance issue with the regular checks. Then it is. otherwise, it is usually manufacturer, or other factors like a birdstrike or weather

Here is something that you need to keep in mind, a decompression occurs when a hole in a pressurized aircraft occurs such as a window blow out like this. If you can picture the outside air and a negative force and the pressurized air as a positive force, when the window shattered the passenger was like a positive ion in a magnet being pulled towards the negative force. As long as there is a difference between air pressures there will be a suction pull. Depending on the altitude and pressure differences it could be 100’s of PSI. Nothing can free you from that vacuum pull. A great example to a decompression blow out such as this is when you blow up a balloon. The air inside the balloon is the cabin of the plane. The window is the knot on the tail. The outside is the exterior of the aircraft. When you let go on the tail of the balloon it forces the air out at great force like a vacuum sucking all the air out of the inside of the balloon. The same occurred when the window blew, pulling whatever it could grasp until the pressures equalized. The oxygen mask system in a aircraft monitors these pressures and if the psi drops low enough it triggers the mask drop sequence. I hope this explains how this happens to that poor lady. My thoughts for there family!

@michael-ll6pt5 жыл бұрын
Colianci that’s stupid. do you know how dangerous it would be to have 100+ people parachute at once. people in real life who skydive in large groups like that literally need months or years of training to learn how not to collide into others in the sky. not to mention the fact that you would get sucked out the door even if you managed to open it, which you can’t while you’re flying because the pressure on the door is too strong

Reading through other comments I have noticed that people are saying its the airlines fault. Its not, they had no way to detect a fault in an engine that was running perfectly routine until that moment. The company General Electric that manufactured may be negligent but not Southwest. people also need to remember that the Boeing 737-700 and its engine series are ageing and a more prone to incidents like this which is why airlines like Southwest, Virgin Australia and Delta are phasing them out of their fleet in favour for the 737-800/900 or the new MAX series, also cabin crew are trained in CPR and first aid they just require extra people to assist.

Accidents like these are very very very rare. Don't worry before boarding a plane, you'll be fine. If something does happen, remain calm and listen to the professionals.

Omg , I just came back from a short trip and 3 times I sat on the window seat close to the engine. Crazy how you take things for granted. I’m thankful for all the safe flights I’ve ever been on.

Stop hating on her... It was a traumatic experience which solidified what she was doing at the time in her memory! Like I'm sure there are countless people who remember crazy/silly stuff they were doing when 9/11 happened!!
