Nice! I’m mid install on my 2018 GU right now. It’s going fairly smooth. I had to wrestle with the branch pipes a bit but plenty of fuel lube and everything is seated. On to the harness...

now they can keep up with my Gear Up! ;-) And when on my Retro will just wave and catch up, eventually... and your way of chucking the old EFI and getting the new was a lot cheaper than they way I ended up doing it!

Thanks for the encouragement! Jon @HeindlEngineering would be the man to ask about the hand shift kits, but if I recall, there is a kit for the 2019+ Urals. The Retro is a completely different animal with it's own unique reverse shifter. Palmetto camo would be illegal except in Florida. :-) Or, maybe because you would blend in too much it would be legal everywhere except Florida... hmmm.

Yes, Jon at Heindl (or any Ural dealer) can get you a kit. I did our 2017 cT myself, working on that video now. I found it straightforward and ... wait for the video!

Haha - made me laugh with the showroom tour! Very happy for you (and somewhat jealous). Looks like you got to keep the original heads - I thought you would need to change them. Are you riding it back home or trucking it? I am curious about how it handles hills. The old EJ’ seem to be running out of gas or air when climbing. Looking forward to a longer term review. We trailered it back, I'm crazy but not insane, too cold! The trailer was dropped behind the shop, we were there for 4 days so we dropped it and took the truck on a tour while Jon worked. It does SO much better and runs well on the hills. I'm working on the cT upgrade videos now, did that myself with the same positive result.

Shouldn't be a problem, tons of Urals in FL, we've been to FL often, all they way to Key West on Urals, no problem. You also have one of the best dealers in Holopaw, FL. Look up Holopaw Ural and go see Gene!

I live in Punta Gorda Florida 100 miles south of Tampa I use my 99 Euro tourist everyday for everyday transportation I've never had any instances of it overheating I just Cruise the back roads try to get a carbureted version because they run much cooler than the ones with fuel injection with run super lean to satisfy the pollution sniffers I run regular gas and she runs as cool as any of my other Airhead BMW from the 70s I have over 40,000 miles on my bike runs good drives good I cruised around 50 unless I'm going on the interstate hopping over the bridge workout to the Post in Fort Myers course you could always put it on your cooler on it if you're really worried about it but I really wouldn't hope this helps

No, it is for 2014 to 2018 ElectroJet EFIs to upgrade to Keihin EFI.

Yes, the kit is for 2014 to 2018. The 2014 to 2016 have a few differences that need more wires (like the speedo and lights etc...) but everything needed is in the kit. Best talk to a dealer to verify your options. I have a video in the 2017 cT install coming soon.

I don’t know if I ever told you, but while I was waiting for Ural of New England to ship my patrol down here I had popped my L3 disc again and was in bed for 10 days (December 2016) and had watched All of your videos to That point trying to get to know my new bike coming, before it got here since they are Quite Different than most. Did you get the dealer tool? I have been contemplating this for my 2020 as I’m 300 miles away from dealer but it’s 600 dollars Canadian. Is it worth the price? Thanks

I did get one, I couldn't get the bluetooth working (wouldn't connect to the phone) and I've been too lazy to drag a computer out there to try via USB. If I ever get it working, I'll probably do a video.

What was the cost and how much down time? Will it work on a 16?

Heindl did the install on the Retro while he was doing other warranty work, took him the day to do the kit install. I did the install on the cT, took me a good 2 days at a leisurely pace. It wasn't hard and the kit is designed for 2014 through 2018 Urals. It is not designed for the Retro, but the install was easy with just a few extra extension wires. I'm not sure what the current cost it, was around $2000 for the kit at the time. Best to call your dealer or call Jon and Heindl Engineering for a current price. It isn't cheap, but you can sell the leftovers from your upgrade to recoup some of the cost, maybe $500 or so, not sure what EJK Throttle bodies are going for right now.

On my Retro, it was worth it to me. Love the way the bike runs now and that's the bike I want, couldn't buy a newer one like it. As for the cT, my Wife's rig... well you can argue with her on that one. I think we would have been better to trade up to a 2019, but she really wanted her bike. We even when and looked at a used 2019, but it was her call and it's worth it to her!

EFI be Damned an expensive barge to satisfy the government are sniffers I love the Mikuni carbs on my 99 Euro the bike runs good drives good and carbs are so much cheaper and easier to service and full injection Cersei only produce 2,000 bikes a year I can't understand why they don't get a low production exception regarding the pollution control as far as I'm concerned motorcycle should not have to atone for the sins of every idiots driving cars fuel injection adds $1,500 to a cost of a motorcycle needless complication in my opinion

Low production exemptions would be nice. I wish Ural still made a Carbed Retro with all the "real" non-EPA related upgrades in place. Have you seen the 2022 yet, 4 CATs, really? And that fancy vac actuated exhaust valve thing that will break 5 minutes after I get it?

Why is it Royal Enfield that makes 800 900,000 motorcycles a year put fuel injection for some countries and carburetors for other countries I myself do not want to pay $1,500 of the purchase price for full injection and they should also make a low-priced version of a Ural without all the fancy top dollar accessories like the stainless steel pipes driving shock absorbers The Italian Dish break the German shocks are $2,500 for a set let the owners upgrade their bikes as they see fit after their purchase people who buy shy cars either like them or they don't my bike was 20 years old when I bought it and I didn't have to completely rebuild the disc brake system which it does not have or the fool injectors which it does not have the Soviets shock the Soviet pipe are perfectly satisfactory for the low speed but the bike is capable of they do all these upgrades to the bike but it doesn't run any faster and it doesn't stop any quicker semi drum brake carbureted model my bike also doesn't run hot as Hades like every air-cooled fuel injected bike which is lean as hell to satisfy pollution requirements motorcycle should not have to have pollution requirements because of all the idiots with cars
