@2:07 (#4) - Bethesda introduced it in Fallout 4 with Codsworth, one of your robot companions, mentioning the player's name. @6:34 - In reality and theoretically, especially in low gravity situations, I think firing a gun will push you slightly backward. But I think for the sake of making the game easily playable, Bethesda opted to ignore this physics.

Gearbox did the same thing for one of their fans of Borderlands who had to leave this plain of existence before he was able to play the game; if I recall correctly, they put him in the game as a random NPC with a special weapon to give the player.

Factions fight each other in game as well, I've had eccliptic ships land and raid pirate bases and heard you can get the random varuun shroudbreaker fighting the UC mothership (sorry forget what it's called the one you report to for the crimson fleet quest).

Bobby and his parents escaped some planet that was attacked. Bobby's parents were on a different shuttle. People didn't believe Bobby when he said his parents were going to arrive soon... they presumed they didn't make it and that he was just naive to think that they survived. They were going to give him foster parents but lo behold, his parents really were alive and he is now reunited with them.
