I am from Chengdu, China. It was a coincidence that I saw this video. The 16th future city is Chengdu Future City. This future city is just near my company. I rode a bike to see it yesterday. The center of this future city is about 1.5 kilometers away from my company. What surprised me was that after only 8 months, a huge modern park and dozens of modern buildings have been built there. I was very surprised by the speed. This future city is located in the east of Chengdu Financial City. It is also the second phase of Chengdu Financial City, and the first phase is another future city. In fact, in Chengdu alone, there are about seven or eight such future cities under construction or already built. Therefore, the speed and scale of China's development are simply unimaginable to many foreigners. It can be said that it exceeds their cognitive scope.

That’s a very sweet and incredibly naïve thing to say. China is essentially a totalitarian dictatorship. It is one of the most incredibly repressive governments on the planet. To consolidate power, China’s president, Xi Jinping, had his predecessor arrested and killed, and has been eliminating anyone he perceives to be a threat to his consolidation of power. During Covid, he placed huge numbers of his citizens under house arrest, preventing them from seeking medical care for themselves or their loved ones. He is committing genocide against the Uighur people. And you think he should give the money to the poor?!? 🫤

Wow! Why so aggressive to China? At least they’re trying!
@thomashiggins93204 ай бұрын
Have you paid any attention, at all, to what they *actually do* as compared to what they say they *plan* ? All of those nifty new cities have such shoddy construction that nobody wants to live in them, so they're slowly collapsing and dragging down the entire economy of the People's Republic of China.
@ZonaNorte146 ай бұрын
Why is it an aggressive move? because its China? or because the US can't and didn't think of such a crazy idea? if they can build an island in the middle of the sea then I think that should be considered their territory why wouldn't it? the sea it's all up for grabs just as long as you don't just say it's yours, if a ship is considered an extension of your country, then so is an island even if build
@david33mtrb5 ай бұрын
It’s aggressive because they are building the island in international waters in an effort to gain greater control. Despite its name, the South China Sea does not belong to China. A close equivalent is the Gulf of Mexico, which does not belong to Mexico. China’s actions are aggressive largely because they are doing this without communicating their intentions. This could be a potential threat to free trade for nations that directly border the South China Sea, such as Vietnam, Philippines, Brunei, and Malaysia. Additionally, this could be a potential threat to any nation sending maritime cargo through this region of Southeast Asia. It’s not about the island, per se. It’s about the potential for future military aggression by the Chinese that the island represents.
@thomashiggins93204 ай бұрын
@@david33mtrb While it could be all of those bad things, what is most likely to happen is that all these real estate development projects turn into the same s***-shows we've seen throughout China, and hasten the collapse of the country's entire economy. Central-planning economies just eventually grind to a halt because the bureaucrats in charge keep making bad guesses.
@Doxumentqrylenthusias3 ай бұрын
Because it's not china's land/territorial water as defined by the UN and the international court of arbitration in the Hague ruled in the Phillapines favour and China ignored it.

But if China builds military base in the own country,,, it’s not OK? I wish we lived in a world with people didn’t need military bases at all. But we are too immature as a species to come to that understanding. But why is it OK for some to build sometime to protect themselves. But not OK for others?
