Ibn halal is used as an acronym of the word Bastard, the theory being that a bastard inherently has no manners whilst the “ibn halal” (legit son) can be recognized by his good deeds. Thus we say “ibn halal” to anyone does us good or helps us.

Can somebody explain to me the difference between shita (rain) and shita (winter), please? Is it just in the dialect that it means rain, or is there a difference in the pronunciation, or what exactly should I be paying attention to here? (Ah, I see in the dictionary winter ends with a hamza instead of an alif)
@ladeneye2231
@ladeneye2231 3 жыл бұрын
Yes only in the dialect it means both winter and rain, and is pronounced sheta. In MSA it only means winter, and is pronounced shataa'. In MSA rain is matar.

As long as school education in almost all arabic countries is that deplorable state, standard arabic is a common means of communication for a small group of educated people. There is no need to learn dialect, but it is a gigantic need to teach MSA in all arabic communities. Too many arabic speakers are illiteral and speak only dialect. This seems to be situation in Europe 500 years ago.
