I 100% agree. Journey to the end feels like all the best black metal riffs put together into 1 3:38 black metal song, and it is genuinely metal perfection. So far, no other track has beaten it, although Travelers by The Square is a close second (it's jazz fusion, not metal, but still).

Magnus of Dark Funeral is easily one of the most powerful singers of any genre . I saw him go on right before Cannibal Corpse in 2002 and Corpsegrinder had nothing on him . Which I s saying something because up until that performance I was not a BM fan at all .

Starts with 1349...and i knew these wont be the essentials.... Lame shit most of it... Ok 8 exceptions... SIGH... ULVER(but these 2 here is more avantgard)... Mayhem(DEAD!!!)....EMPEROR....SATYRICON... DARKTHRONE......BURZUM(just cause this was essential for the genre) ....BATHORY... Nights blood is the onyl good song on that album besides where dead angels lie... But i don't and never saw dissection as a black metal band. With marduk, immortal, dark funeral, dimmu borgir and gorgoroth u just choose the wrong songs... I miss bands like dödheimsgard, forgotten woods, enslaved(sure its not satanic but their style in early stage was bm), strid, ancient, arcturus, mayhemic truth, behemoth(!!!), carpathian forest(through chasm, caves...), hades, first helheim, lunar aurora, old secrets of the moon, moonblood, sargeist, morbid(!!) and of course there r plenty of new bands popping out from the vault these days which sound more essential then some of the songes u had choosen. Just saying
